Riverside Sets Cycling-Focused Danube Sailings for 2027
Guests can borrow e-bikes from the ship's fleet or bring their own bicycles, with a guide and support vehicle available on routes of 18 to 62 miles.
Riverside Luxury Cruises will offer three cycling-focused Danube sailings in July and August 2027 aboard the roughly 160-passenger Riverside Mozart, including a 14-night Passau-to-Budapest option with up to 405 miles of riding. The program comprises two bookable seven-night segments: Passau to Vienna from July 22 to 29 and Vienna to Budapest from July 29 to August 5.
The Riverside Active program combines daily routes of 18 to 62 miles with guide and vehicle support. Guests can choose how often they cycle, and traveling companions can follow separate daytime programs before returning to the ship.
Daily routes and support
The rides use different portions of the Danube Cycle Path, which extends about 2,850 kilometers from Donaueschingen, Germany, to the Danube Delta in Romania. Planned sections include the Wachau Valley route from Melk to Durnstein, the Schlogen Loop and the Danube Bend toward Visegrad, with vineyards, villages and historic sites along the way.
A cycling guide will accompany the rides. A support vehicle is available for guests who decide not to complete a route, and it can carry both the cyclist and bicycle to the next port.
Riders may borrow an e-bike from the ship’s fleet or bring their own bicycle, with onboard storage provided. Guests who skip a ride can remain aboard as Riverside Mozart sails to the next destination or join one of the line’s Riverside Choice excursions.
Fares and the combined itinerary
Fares for each seven-night sailing begin at $5,081 per person based on double occupancy. The combined 14-night voyage, operating from July 22 to August 5, starts at $10,161 per person based on double occupancy.
The full Passau-to-Budapest itinerary also includes an after-hours visit to Vienna’s Belvedere Palace. The evening will feature a private musical performance and access to Gustav Klimt’s The Kiss outside normal visiting hours.
