Princess Cruises Brings Cruise Search to ChatGPT

Travelers need a free ChatGPT account and must connect the Princess app before directing requests to @princesscruises to compare ships and itineraries.

Princess Cruises launched a native app in ChatGPT on September 28, 2026, allowing travelers to search cruises, check current fares and availability, and refine vacation plans through conversation. Princess said it is the first global cruise line to introduce a native app on the platform.

The app covers more than 330 destinations across the line’s 17 ships. It connects ChatGPT directly with information and services on Princess’ website while keeping travelers linked to the cruise line’s booking channels.

Neena Vicente, Princess Cruises’ vice president of digital commerce and experience, said consumers increasingly use generative AI “not simply to find information, but to help evaluate choices and plan increasingly complex trips.” She described the app as a new entry point for travelers considering a Princess vacation.

Searching and refining cruise choices

Travelers can search by destination, sailing date and cruise length, then compare ships and itineraries. The app also lets them explore ports, shore excursions, cruisetours, onboard experiences and packages. Follow-up requests narrow the choices to their preferences.

For example, someone considering Alaska can ask which sailings visit Glacier Bay National Park, then request options departing from Seattle. A more specific initial request could seek a seven-night itinerary calling at Santorini in August 2027.

Travelers need a ChatGPT account, which is free to create, and must install and connect the Princess Cruises app within ChatGPT. Once connected, they can open a new chat and direct their requests to @princesscruises.

OpenAI and Mobi weigh in

“We’re building ChatGPT to help people move from discovery to action,” said Rosemary DeAragon, head of technology and consumer industries at OpenAI. She cited the Princess app as an example of conversational planning involving AI platforms and travel brands.

Princess separately stated that it has no affiliation with OpenAI and that OpenAI does not endorse or sponsor the cruise line.

Andrew Boch, CEO of Mobi, whose travel-technology products include branded experiences within ChatGPT, said Princess’ work could give it “a real advantage as these new channels become an increasingly important part of travel.”

Princess intends to extend the app to other compatible AI platforms, subject to platform availability and technical requirements. It named neither those platforms nor a timetable.
