Port Canaveral Begins $95 Million Cruise Terminal 10 Expansion
The terminal is planned for ships carrying as many as six thousand seven hundred passengers, with Disney Cruise Line, MSC Cruises and Royal Caribbean among its users.
Construction has begun on Port Canaveral’s $95 million expansion and renovation of Cruise Terminal 10, with completion scheduled for November 2027. The redesigned terminal will exceed 145,000 square feet, about 30% larger than the existing facility, and is planned to handle cruise ships carrying as many as 6,700 passengers.
Port Canaveral reported 8.6 million passenger movements in fiscal 2025, up 13% from fiscal 2024, and said that total made it the world’s busiest cruise port. The port also reported 18 homeported ships across seven cruise brands and 1,038 ship calls in fiscal 2025.
Inside the redesigned terminal
The Terminal 10 plan includes larger security-screening and baggage areas, additional elevators and escalators, revised wayfinding signs and HVAC upgrades. The design also calls for a glass facade, more natural light, larger interiors and colorful artwork in public areas.
“We’ve taken everything we’ve learned about cruise operations to create a terminal that is highly functional and visually beautiful,” said Captain John W. Murray, Port Canaveral CEO. Murray said the port’s cruise investments are aimed at improving arrivals and departures for cruise partners and their passengers.
Multiple cruise lines use Cruise Terminal 10 as berth assignments require, among them Disney Cruise Line, MSC Cruises and Royal Caribbean. Port Canaveral did not announce line-specific berth changes, temporary closure dates or interim passenger-routing plans for Terminal 10 during the construction period.
Miami-based Bermello Ajamil is designing the terminal, and PCL Construction Services of Orlando is the construction contractor. Bermello Ajamil previously designed Port Canaveral’s 200,000-square-foot Cruise Terminal 3.
Terminal 10 joins work at terminals 5 and 6
The Terminal 10 project is part of Port Canaveral Advantage, the port’s nearly $1 billion, five-year capital improvement program. The program also includes the ongoing expansion of Cruise Terminal 5 and a new 13-story parking garage adjacent to Cruise Terminal 6.
The separate Terminal 5 project is a $78 million expansion that will nearly double that facility to 170,000 square feet. The adjacent Cruise Terminal 6 East garage is a $93 million project that will add about 3,700 spaces, bringing total port parking capacity to nearly 17,500 spaces. More than 80% of Port Canaveral cruise passengers arrive by car.
Terminal 5 stays open through construction. Murray said port officials had “no option to take it offline” because of passenger volume.
Port Canaveral has set December 2026 for completing the Terminal 5 expansion. The adjacent garage is scheduled for autumn 2026 and will include eight extra-large elevators, twin two-lane vehicle ramps and a pedestrian bridge to Cruise Terminal 5.
