Oceania Plans First Fully Gluten-Free Ocean Cruise for 2028

Celiac Cruise will serve as an official booking partner and has previously organized ocean and river sailings using dedicated gluten-free kitchens.

Oceania Cruises plans to operate what it describes as the cruise industry’s first entirely gluten-free ocean voyage, departing May 31, 2028, aboard the 1,200-guest Oceania Vista. The 12-night roundtrip sailing from Southampton will visit ports in England, Ireland and Scotland.

Gluten-free menus will be offered across every onboard dining venue, as well as through afternoon tea, in-suite dining and bakery service. Oceania is developing the voyage with Celiac Cruise, which will contribute expertise on gluten-free dining and preparation.

Gluten-free service across Vista

The program will cover Toscana, Polo Grill, Red Ginger, Jacques, Aquamar Kitchen and Waves Grill. Fresh pastries from The Bakery will also be gluten-free.

“It will allow guests to relax into their vacation knowing the entire culinary experience has been created with them in mind,” said Jason Montague, chief luxury officer of Oceania Cruises.

The sailing is aimed at travelers who must routinely check ingredients, preparation methods and the potential for cross-contact when dining away from home. Celiac Cruise has organized other ocean and river sailings using dedicated gluten-free kitchens and, on some departures, entirely gluten-free menus. Its cruise line partners have included Royal Caribbean, AmaWaterways and Oceania Cruises.

“The opportunity to board a ship knowing the culinary experience has been designed to be entirely gluten-free fundamentally changes what travel can feel like for so many,” said Maureen Basye, founder of Celiac Cruise.

Around the British Isles

After leaving Southampton, Vista will call at Cork through Cobh and Dublin through Dun Laoghaire in Ireland. In Scotland, the ship will visit Glasgow through Greenock, Stornoway in the Hebrides and Edinburgh through Newhaven.

Reservations are available directly through Oceania Cruises at OceaniaCruises.com. Celiac Cruise will also serve as an official booking partner for the 2028 departure.
