Norwegian Sun Starts 2026 Northern Europe Season Before Fleet Exit
After a final Europe season in 2027, the vessel is scheduled to transfer to India-based Cordelia Cruises and be renamed Cordelia Sun.
Norwegian Cruise Line’s 78,309-gt, 1,878-guest Norwegian Sun has arrived in Northern Europe for a summer 2026 deployment focused on Scandinavia and the Baltic. The ship reached the Port of Southampton earlier in June after repositioning from Asia and completing a 22-night sailing that departed Cape Town, then operated a seven-night cruise to Copenhagen, one of its seasonal homeports.
The program puts Norwegian Sun on seven- to 10-night cruises between Copenhagen and Helsinki through mid-October. The deployment comes ahead of a planned 2027 exit from the NCL fleet under a charter deal announced in 2025.
Scandinavia and Baltic calls follow Africa positioning voyage
The Northern Europe schedule includes calls at Oslo, Norway; Tallinn, Estonia; Riga, Latvia; Kiel, Germany; Klaipeda, Lithuania; and Gdynia, Poland.
Before entering the Europe program, Norwegian Sun sailed from Cape Town to ports in Namibia, Angola, Ghana, Ivory Coast, Senegal, Spain and Portugal. Calls on that repositioning voyage included Walvis Bay, Luanda, Takoradi, Abidjan and Dakar, followed by Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, Santa Cruz de Tenerife, Funchal and Vigo before the ship reached the United Kingdom.
Remaining NCL schedule leads toward Cordelia transfer
At the end of the Northern Europe season, Norwegian Sun is scheduled to embark on a trans-Atlantic crossing to New York City. A later repositioning to PortMiami will lead into an early-November Caribbean program of 11- and 12-night cruises that include partial Panama Canal transits and calls in Central America.
The ship has 968 staterooms and a maximum passenger capacity of 1,936, with a crew of 906. After completing a final summer season in Europe in 2027, the vessel is scheduled to transfer to India-based Cordelia Cruises in September and be renamed Cordelia Sun for itineraries around India and Southeast Asia.
Cordelia currently operates one ship, Cordelia Empress. Its next announced fleet addition is Norwegian Sky, expected to transfer from Norwegian Cruise Line later in 2026.
