Norwegian Prima to Sail NCL’s First Summer Season From Galveston

The itinerary includes Cozumel, Costa Maya, Roatan and Harvest Caye, while Norwegian Cruise Line will use Galveston's Cruise Terminal 16, the port's newest cruise facility.

Norwegian Cruise Line will operate its first summer season from Galveston, assigning Norwegian Prima to seven-night roundtrip Western Caribbean cruises from April through October 2028. The deployment will complete NCL’s first year-round Texas schedule, which begins in November 2027 with Norwegian Escape.

Galveston is the fourth-largest U.S. cruise homeport and handled almost 1.5 million cruise passengers across 354 sailings in 2023.

“With the Summer 2028 voyages now on sale, guests can take advantage of a greater selection of destination-rich itineraries,” Norwegian Cruise Line President Marc Kazlauskas said. The line’s full summer deployment covers more than 450 voyages across 20 ships.

Norwegian Prima’s Western Caribbean itinerary

Norwegian Prima’s Galveston cruises will call at Cozumel and Costa Maya in Mexico, Roatan in Honduras and Harvest Caye in Belize. Harvest Caye has a beach, pool, watersports, zip-line attractions, restaurants and bars, along with connections to mainland Belize excursions.

NCL sails from Galveston’s Cruise Terminal 16, the port’s newest cruise facility, which also handles MSC Cruises. The port operates four cruise terminals in total.

Escape will begin the year-round schedule

Norwegian Escape will launch the year-round Galveston program in November 2027, operating seven- to nine-night Western Caribbean cruises through April 2028. Norwegian Prima will arrive later that month after completing a winter deployment from San Juan.

Before that year-round operation begins, Norwegian Viva is scheduled to sail Western Caribbean cruises from Galveston during the 2026-27 winter season.

More Caribbean capacity in summer 2028

NCL’s complete summer 2028 schedule consists of three- to 14-day voyages from 25 homeports, reaching nearly 150 destinations in 51 countries. The program includes 175 overnight stays and late departures across 53 destinations, with port calls averaging more than 10 hours.

Norwegian Aura will operate seven-night Eastern Caribbean cruises from Miami, visiting Puerto Plata, St. Thomas, Tortola and Great Stirrup Cay. Norwegian Aqua will spend its first full summer offering three- and four-night Bahamas cruises from Miami, while Norwegian Escape will move to Port Canaveral after its Galveston season for alternating Eastern and Western Caribbean itineraries.

Norwegian Luna will also operate a 10-night repositioning cruise from Miami to New York in May 2028, making its inaugural calls at Aruba, Curaçao and San Juan. Outside the Caribbean, the deployment includes four ships in Alaska, expanded European schedules and Norwegian Gem’s Philadelphia debut in April 2028.

Bookings for the summer 2028 season are open. NCL’s End of Summer Sale is scheduled to run through Aug. 18, 2026, offering 50% off cruises and up to $750 in onboard credit per stateroom on select sailings.
