Norwegian Cruise Line to Reveal Final Prima Ship in 2026

Norwegian Cruise Line will reveal details of its sixth and final Prima-series ship on October 20, 2026, with the announcement scheduled for 9:15 a.m. Eastern time. The Fincantieri newbuild is due for delivery in 2028.

The vessel is expected to measure 170,000 gross tons and accommodate 3,880 guests at double occupancy, matching the planned size and capacity of Norwegian Aura, the preceding ship in the series. That is a step up from the approximately 143,500-gross-ton Norwegian Prima, which Norwegian lists with capacity for 3,195 guests at double occupancy.

Norwegian disclosed the reveal schedule in a social-media teaser, describing the final vessel as the “grand finale” of the Prima class. The delivery timing appears in Cruise Industry News’ global cruise ship orderbook.

Aura is currently being built at Fincantieri’s Marghera yard, with delivery scheduled for the second quarter of 2027. It is set to become the largest ship in Norwegian’s fleet when it enters service in the Mediterranean.

Following its initial European itineraries, Aura will reposition to PortMiami in late May. Its first sailings from the South Florida homeport will be seven-night Caribbean cruises.

The six-ship series began with Norwegian Prima in 2022, followed by Norwegian Viva in 2023 and Norwegian Aqua in 2025. All six ships come from Fincantieri yards in Italy.

Norwegian Luna joined the fleet earlier in 2026 and began its maiden season from PortMiami in late March. Norwegian lists Aqua, Luna and Aura under its larger Prima Plus designation, while Prima and Viva retain the original Prima-class label.

Beyond the final two vessels in the series, Norwegian and Fincantieri are developing another ship design. The first ship in that program is scheduled to debut in 2030 at 227,000 gross tons.
