Norwegian Aura to Debut Whitney Houston Theater Show in 2027

Norwegian Cruise Line developed the Houston production with The Estate of Whitney E. Houston and Primary Wave Music for the three-story Aura Theatre & Club.

Norwegian Cruise Line will make a 45-minute Whitney Houston production the headline theater show aboard Norwegian Aura when the new ship debuts in May 2027. Whitney: A Celebration of Whitney Houston will combine live vocals, a live band and immersive visuals in the three-story Aura Theatre & Club.

The production follows NCL’s Prince show on Norwegian Aqua and Elton John show on Norwegian Luna. Aura’s broader program will add illusion, acrobatics and live music, along with an adults-only cabaret returning from Luna.

NCL developed the Houston production with The Estate of Whitney E. Houston and Primary Wave Music. Bryan White, vice president of entertainment production at Norwegian Cruise Line Holdings, said each new vessel gives the company an opportunity to expand its onboard entertainment.

“This new show reimagines Whitney’s legendary catalogue through contemporary arrangements, dynamic storytelling, stunning visuals and powerful live performances,” White said.

Illuminox: Infinite Wonder Unboxed will pair illusions with acrobatic performances. The Vinyl Republic, a live-music collective, will perform in venues around the ship, including the Penrose Atrium and Improv at Sea.

LunaTique: Pop Circus will bring the adults-only cabaret and nightlife production from Norwegian Luna to Aura. The program combines pop music and circus-style performance.

Aura First Night will introduce guests to the ship’s shows through a welcome showcase, while Latin Live! will feature percussion and dance performances in a poolside event.
