Maya Mobile Launches eSIM Data Plan for Cruise Passengers

Maya sells the cruise plan in three-, seven-, fourteen- and thirty-day durations, using a QR-code setup that keeps a traveler's existing mobile plan on the device.

Maya Mobile has introduced Global + Cruise, an eSIM data plan designed to keep cruise passengers connected through one installation on participating ships and during international port calls. The plan is sold in three-, seven-, 14- and 30-day durations, extending Maya’s international travel-data products into a cruise-specific package.

Cruise-line coverage and plan structure

Maya named Carnival Cruise Line, Celebrity Cruises, Disney Cruise Line, Norwegian Cruise Line, Princess Cruises, Royal Caribbean International and Virgin Voyages among the supported cruise brands. Its cruise eSIM materials list coverage for more than 20 cruise lines; the company did not identify all of them in the launch announcement.

The company, founded in 2021 and based in the United States, sells travel eSIM data plans with coverage ranging from 165-plus countries to more than 200 countries and territories depending on the package. Its standard eSIM setup uses a QR code and keeps the customer’s existing mobile plan on the device, avoiding a physical SIM swap.

Maya’s cruise materials describe the ship-and-port product as unlimited data access on participating vessels and in port destinations across 165-plus countries. The plans connect through major local carriers with 4G and 5G access where available, and Maya advertises 24/7 WhatsApp support with human agents.

Data-only limits and pricing gaps

The service is data-only. Customers cannot use it for conventional voice calls or SMS. App-based calling and messaging, including WhatsApp or Skype, can run over the data connection where service is available, while the user’s primary mobile plan remains installed.

Maya’s Global Travel Mode, which includes cruise coverage, is listed at $3.33 per day when billed every three days or $2.00 per day when billed every 14 days. The launch did not include a complete price schedule for each Global + Cruise duration, and Maya did not include an executive statement with the announcement.
