Marella Cruises Opens 70 Caribbean Excursions for Winter 2026
Marella Discovery’s seven-night Tropical Isles itinerary sails round-trip from La Romana, with the all-inclusive package including TUI Airways flights from London Gatwick.
Marella Cruises has opened bookings for 70 new Caribbean shore excursions for winter 2026, including zip-lining in St Maarten, wind-powered land sailing in Bonaire and steelpan lessons in Tobago.
The programme covers Marella Discovery departures from La Romana, Dominican Republic, and sailings from Bridgetown, Barbados, aboard Marella Voyager and the adults-only Marella Explorer 2.
Chris Hackney, CEO of Marella Cruises, said more than 60 percent of places on the Flying Dutchman zip-line excursion in St Maarten had already sold. “We're already seeing strong early demand for these new experiences,” he said.
That excursion takes passengers to the top of Sentry Hill on the Sky Explorer chairlift before a descent reaching speeds of up to 56 mph. Marella describes the Flying Dutchman as one of the world’s steepest zip lines.
“Our itineraries are designed to make the most of time in port so customers can really get under the skin of each destination on each sailing,” Hackney said.
Music, heritage and guided exploration
Two of the new options focus on Caribbean music. The Home of Steelpan excursion visits Scarborough, Tobago, where players demonstrate how the instruments are made and tuned. The outing also includes a live steelpan band performance and a stop at Fort King George.
In Puerto Rico, the Sounds of Ponce and Salsa Experience combines a drive through the city with commentary about its artists, neighbourhoods and musical traditions. Passengers then take part in a music-and-dance workshop suitable for beginners.
A separate Puerto Rico excursion, Expedition to the Window Cave, takes passengers through cave chambers with an experienced guide. The visit includes ancient rock carvings and an introduction to the area’s pre-Columbian heritage, along with local myths and legends.
For passengers choosing a city tour, the Sugar City Trolley Train travels through Basseterre, St Kitts, with a focus on the island’s history and culture.
Marella also offers a seven-night Tropical Isles itinerary sailing round-trip from La Romana aboard Marella Discovery. The all-inclusive fly-cruise package includes TUI Airways flights from London Gatwick.
