Disney Secures Weekly Icy Strait Point Docking Through 2041

Disney Cruise Line and Huna Totem Corporation have signed a 15-year agreement securing Disney ship calls at Icy Strait Point through at least 2041. The deal gives Disney preferential docking for one vessel each week at the Huna Totem-owned destination in Hoonah, Alaska, and includes a minimum annual passenger guarantee.

The agreement extends a partnership of nearly a decade and gives Icy Strait Point more predictable Disney traffic during Alaska seasons. The companies did not disclose financial terms or the minimum passenger volume covered by the guarantee.

Weekly access at a multi-line Alaska port

Disney expanded its Alaska deployment in 2026 from one ship to two, with Disney Magic and Disney Wonder both operating in the region. Icy Strait Point is included on select seven-night Disney Alaska itineraries this season.

The preference does not make the port exclusive to Disney. Icy Strait Point’s 2026 calendar also includes ships from Celebrity, Holland America Line, MSC, Norwegian, Princess, Royal Caribbean, Silversea, Viking and other operators.

Jose Fernandez, Disney Cruise Line’s vice president of port strategy, development and operations, said “Icy Strait Point has been a valued part of our Alaska itineraries for nearly a decade.” He said the agreement would keep the destination available to Disney guests seeking Hoonah-area wildlife, scenery and cultural programming.

Huna Totem gains long-term volume certainty

Icy Strait Point is the largest employer in Hoonah. Howard Sherman, president of Huna Totem Tourism Group, said Disney visits help support “local jobs, businesses and economic opportunity in Hoonah.”

Huna Totem developed Icy Strait Point in 2004, and the destination has since welcomed more than 4 million cruise passengers. The Alaska Native corporation represents more than 1,850 shareholders with ancestral ties to Glacier Bay and Hoonah.

Icy Strait Point is a private cruise port with two main docking areas, Ocean Landing and Wilderness Landing. Most visitor services are concentrated around the restored 1912 cannery complex, with excursion check-in, shops, restaurants, a museum and shuttle or gondola connections between docks and main facilities.

Passenger activities promoted at the destination include whale watching, bear-viewing departures, nature trails, Hoonah Mountain gondola access, the ZipRider and cultural experiences tied to Huna Tlingit heritage.

For the current season, the agreement does not mean every Disney Alaska sailing will call at Icy Strait Point. Disney has not announced its Alaska deployment beyond 2026, including whether it will continue operating two ships in the region.
