Disney Magic Sails From San Diego on Panama Canal Crossing
Disney Magic leaves San Diego November 6 on a 14-night Panama Canal crossing to Galveston, calling at Cartagena and George Town before arriving November 20.
Disney Cruise Line’s Disney Magic and Disney Wonder are sailing from San Diego this fall after completing their 2026 Alaska deployments in late September. Both ships are offering Baja California and Mexican Riviera cruises, with Disney Wonder scheduled to continue departures from the California port through late April 2027.
The repositioning follows Disney’s first two-ship Alaska season, with each vessel operating 15 weeklong cruises from Vancouver after arriving in May. Disney Magic made its Alaska debut during the deployment, which was the line’s largest season in the region.
Two ships, different West Coast schedules
Disney Magic is operating three- to seven-night itineraries, with Catalina Island, Ensenada, Cabo San Lucas and Puerto Vallarta among its scheduled calls. Disney Magic will complete its California deployment in early November.
Disney Wonder’s schedule combines short Baja California cruises with six- and seven-night Mexican Riviera voyages. Its port lineup also includes Mazatlan, and the vessel operates from the Pacific Coast year-round.
The Fincantieri-built ships each accommodate up to 2,713 guests at maximum occupancy. Disney Wonder entered service in 1999, a year after Disney Magic.
The shorter San Diego options include three- and four-night voyages calling only at Ensenada, as well as itineraries combining Ensenada with Catalina Island. Select departures offer Disney’s Halloween on the High Seas or Very Merrytime programming; the seasonal offerings vary by ship and sailing.
Wrapping up the line’s largest Alaska season
The completed Alaska itineraries combined calls in Southeast Alaska and British Columbia with scenic cruising at Dawes Glacier and through the Inside Passage. Disney Magic regularly visited Icy Strait Point, Ketchikan and Skagway, while Disney Wonder operated similar routes.
Disney Wonder also interrupted its Alaska operations for a maintenance drydock at the Esquimalt Graving Dock in Victoria. Its final seven-night Alaska cruise departed Vancouver on September 21.
During that last voyage, crew members participated in maritime-career events for students in Skagway and Ketchikan. Disney also worked with the Armed Services YMCA of Alaska on a September 25 event in Juneau for Coast Guard members and their families.
“Alaska is an important and growing part of the Disney Cruise Line story,” said Beth Thibadoux, director of external affairs for Disney Cruise Line.
A 15-year agreement with Huna Totem Corporation, announced earlier in 2026, secures Disney preferential access at Icy Strait Point through at least 2041. Both ships are scheduled to return to Vancouver for another Alaska season between May and September 2027.
Disney Magic’s next repositioning voyage departs San Diego on November 6 for a 14-night eastbound Panama Canal crossing, arriving in Galveston on November 20. The itinerary includes Cabo San Lucas, Puerto Vallarta, Cartagena and George Town, Grand Cayman.
