Disney Cruise Line Launches First Two-Ship Alaska Season

Each ship has more than 15 departures planned, with seven-night itineraries pairing Southeast Alaska calls with scenic cruising at Dawes Glacier and the Inside Passage.

Disney Cruise Line has begun its first two-ship Alaska season, deploying Disney Magic and Disney Wonder from Vancouver for the line’s largest program yet in the region. Both vessels arrived in May and are sailing roundtrip itineraries from Canada Place Cruise Terminal through late September.

The schedule gives Disney two ships in Alaska for the first time, with more than 15 departures planned on each vessel. The program centers on seven-night cruises combining Southeast Alaska port calls with scenic cruising at Dawes Glacier and the Inside Passage.

Two ships sailing from Canada Place

Disney Magic began its first Alaska season in late May after a drydock in Victoria. The ship is operating weeklong roundtrip cruises from Vancouver with calls at Icy Strait Point, Ketchikan and Skagway.

Disney Wonder also started its Alaska season in May after a winter deployment on the West Coast. Its seven-night Vancouver sailings include Ketchikan, Juneau and Skagway, along with scenic cruising in the region.

The deployment uses two 1990s-built ships of similar scale. Disney Magic, built by Fincantieri in 1998, is about 83,000 gross tons and roughly 964 feet long; Disney Wonder, built by Fincantieri in 1999, is listed at about 84,000 to 85,000 gross tons and a similar length. Each carries about 1,750 passengers at double occupancy, with roughly 945 crew. Disney did not disclose fares or provide executive commentary.

West Coast sailings follow the Alaska season

After the Alaska program, Disney Magic is scheduled for fall itineraries to the Mexican Riviera and Baja California before repositioning to Texas. Its West Coast season runs through early November, when the ship is due to operate a 14-night Panama Canal voyage ending in Galveston.

Disney Wonder is scheduled to remain on the West Coast year-round, sailing from San Diego through early 2027. Its program includes short Baja California cruises and six- and seven-night Mexican Riviera itineraries, with calls at Isla Catalina, Ensenada, Cabo San Lucas, Puerto Vallarta and Mazatlan.
