Cunard Expands Queen Mary 2’s 2026 Crossings With Theatre at Sea
Cunard is turning sea days into the main attraction, framing the transatlantic run as a floating arts season. It highlights how premium cruising is competing on culture, not just cabins.
Cunard is expanding the onboard entertainment and enrichment offered on its 2026 Transatlantic Crossings aboard Queen Mary 2, adding themed voyages, theatre productions, concerts and author-led programming on sailings between Southampton and New York. The updated lineup coincides with Cunard’s selection as Headline Partner of the Olivier Awards.
Katie McAlister, President of Cunard, said the 2026 schedule is designed to put entertainment “at the heart of every voyage,” adding: “In 2026, we’re offering the most extensive enrichment program ever on a single year of crossings.”
World Voyage updates as Queen Mary 2 heads back toward the transatlantic route
The entertainment announcement comes as Queen Mary 2 continues its 108-night 2026 World Voyage. The ship recently arrived in Singapore on March 27 following a six-day voyage from Hong Kong and Vietnam, and hosted more than 900 passengers for a gala event at the Roselle Simpor Ballroom.
“From historic milestones, such as her first transit through the new Panama Canal locks, to unforgettable moments like the World Voyage Gala in Singapore, every journey perfectly combines Cunard’s rich maritime heritage with modern luxury,” McAlister said.
Earlier in the voyage, Queen Mary 2 docked in Sydney on March 4, framed by the Sydney Opera House and Sydney Harbour Bridge. During the call, Australian author Anna Funder unveiled “A Letter from Australia to the World,” a collection of more than 500 letters that will travel aboard the ship across Asia, Africa, and Europe as part of a cultural exchange initiative.
After an overnight stay in Singapore, Queen Mary 2 began a 57-night journey to Southampton. Cunard said the first leg includes a 16-night journey to Durban and Cape Town, with stops in Malaysia’s Port Klang and Port Louis in Mauritius.
Following an overnight in Cape Town, the ship is scheduled to resume its voyage on April 12, calling at Walvis Bay in Namibia, Dakar in Senegal, and the Spanish ports of Tenerife and Cádiz, before arriving in Southampton on April 30. After returning to Southampton, the ocean liner is set to pivot to transatlantic services for the remainder of the year, operating voyages between Southampton and New York.
Olivier Awards partnership and theatre-led event voyages
Cunard said it is tying multiple 2026 crossings to specific themes, with programming that includes staged performances, interactive workshops, Q&A sessions and immersive theatre.
The Olivier Awards partnership is a central part of the plan. On the May 22 crossing, Cunard will run “London Theatre at Sea,” with programming curated by Julian Bird and positioned as an event voyage built around West End-style performance. Cunard said planned activities include staged performances, musical-theatre singalongs, interactive workshops and a formal evening with “red carpet moments,” along with a chance for guests to take a photograph with an Olivier Award.
Cunard also plans a one-off concert production marking 50 years of the Olivier Awards, with The Oliviers in Concert accompanied by the Royal Court Theatre orchestra.
On the May 29 crossing, Cunard is scheduling the at-sea debut of the Royal Shakespeare Company’s new production of The Constant Wife. Cunard said the comedy is written by playwright Laura Wade, stars Kara Tointon, and includes original music composed by British jazz artist Jamie Cullum.

Entertainment residencies and speaker programming across the wider schedule
Beyond the date-specific programs, Cunard said it is planning “Cunard Exclusive Entertainment Residencies” on selected 2026 Transatlantic Crossings, spanning musicals, comedy, opera and immersive theatre.
Companies and artists named for the residencies include Adam Riches (Jimmy), Tim Benzie (It’s a Mystery!), Dyad Productions (A Room of One’s Own), Michael Morpurgo’s Private Peaceful, and the West End comedy The Last Laugh.
Cunard also said that, across its fleet, more than 680 speakers from various fields are scheduled to appear, including Celia Imrie, Dame Floella Benjamin, Sir Tony Robinson and former England cricket captain Sir Andrew Strauss. Cunard has not provided a single consolidated calendar for every 2026 crossing, but said the expanded entertainment programming is intended to run throughout the year on the Southampton–New York route.
