Cruise Passenger Dies After Fall From Upper Deck at PortMiami
Deputies responded at about three-thirty in the morning. Officials have not identified the passenger, vessel or cruise operator, and medical examiner findings are pending.
A cruise ship passenger died early Monday after falling from an upper deck while the unidentified vessel was docked at PortMiami. Deputies responded at about 3:30 a.m., and local fire rescue personnel pronounced the man dead.
The sheriff’s office homicide bureau opened an inquiry. Detectives are handling the case as an “unclassified death investigation.” Local and federal authorities are working to reconstruct the passenger’s final moments aboard the ship.
Officials have not identified the passenger, vessel or cruise operator. The cause and manner of death remain undetermined pending findings from the local medical examiner’s office. Miami-Dade Fire Rescue did not provide a comment.
