Costa Cruises Closes Brazil Season With Trade Partner Awards

Costa’s emphasis on Brazilian travel agencies shows how vital local sales networks remain as cruise lines rebuild South America demand and channel travelers to global itineraries.

Costa Cruises closed its 2025-26 Brazil cruise season with a trade event onboard the 3,700-passenger Costa Diadema, bringing more than 600 travel agents, partners and media aboard during a Santos-to-Rio de Janeiro sailing. The weekend program included the Costa Brazil Awards, which recognized more than 20 travel agencies for sales performance.

The event coincided with the start of Costa Diadema's 26-night repositioning voyage from Santos to Kiel ahead of its Northern Europe deployment.

Trade partners recognized onboard Costa Diadema

Dario Rustico, Costa's executive president for the Americas, welcomed the awards. "The Costa Brazil Awards is, above all, a recognition of the talent and dedication" of Costa's trade partners in Brazil, Rustico said. He added that celebrating onboard was a way to "reaffirm our gratitude and commitment to the trade."

Ruy Ribeiro, Costa's commercial director in Brazil, said the season delivered "extraordinary results." The awards also recognized Costa's work to connect more Brazilian travelers with international cruise destinations.

Ship heads for Kiel after South America program

Costa Diadema's repositioning cruise visits Brazil, Cape Verde, the Canary Islands, Spain, Portugal, France, England and Belgium en route to Kiel. From there, the ship begins its 2026 Northern Europe season.

Costa's South America program began in early November when Costa Diadema arrived in the region and served as a floating hotel for a United Nations event in Belém. Costa Favolosa later joined for cruises from Santos, Itajaí, Rio de Janeiro, Buenos Aires and Montevideo.

Costa returns to South America in November, with Costa Diadema again opening the regional season. Costa Serena will also sail South America itineraries, offering three- to nine-night cruises to destinations in Brazil, Argentina and Uruguay.
