Atlas Adventurer Sets 128-Night Asia-Africa Debut in 2028

Atlas Ocean Voyages has reached the fifth anniversary of World Navigator, the ship that opened the brand’s service in the Mediterranean on Aug. 4, 2021, with three ships in operation and a scheduled expansion to Asia and Africa in late 2028. Atlas Adventurer, a 400-guest sailing yacht, will carry the line’s first program in those regions.

Atlas said nearly 30 percent of its travelers have returned for another sailing.

“Five years ago, World Navigator embarked on a remarkable journey that would shape the future of Atlas Ocean Voyages,” said James A. Rodriguez, president and chief executive officer. Rodriguez said the brand had been built by its shoreside and shipboard teams, and thanked Atlas Yacht Club members for their continued trust and enthusiasm.

From World Navigator to a three-ship program

World Navigator is a 2021-built expedition ship of about 9,300 to 10,000 GT, with 98 staterooms and suites for roughly 196 to 200 guests. Atlas followed with World Traveller in 2022 and World Voyager in late 2023.

The itinerary map now spans the Mediterranean, Northern Europe, Antarctica, the Arctic, South America, the Caribbean, the Falkland Islands, South Georgia, Greenland, Iceland and the Canadian Arctic.

Atlas Adventurer takes shape for 2028

The newbuild, which Atlas describes as the world’s first luxury expedition sailing yacht, is planned as a 210-meter vessel with three carbon-fiber masts, hybrid dual-fuel propulsion and an Ice Class 1B/Polar Category C hull. Mystic Cruises CEO Mario Ferreira has said the ship will be built in China, following Mystic’s sale of World Explorer to Windstar Cruises.

Ferreira said World Explorer, a 9,300-ton vessel built for Mystic in 2019, is being converted at the West Sea shipyard in Viana do Castelo, Portugal, before delivery to Windstar in December. The yard is adding staterooms, removing the helipad and modifying the bow. Mystic is “replacing it with a larger ship of a new class,” Ferreira said, describing Atlas Adventurer as having twice World Explorer’s passenger capacity.

Longer inaugural-season voyages added

Atlas has added four Extraordinary Expeditions to Atlas Adventurer’s inaugural season, which runs from November 2028 to April 2029 and includes itineraries from eight to 128 nights. The longest is the 128-night Grand Odyssey Expedition from Kobe to Cape Town departing Nov. 30, 2028. Three shorter extended voyages follow: the 40-night Apex of the East Indies from Bangkok to Singapore on Dec. 23, 2028; the 42-night East Africa & Asia Expedition from Bali to Mombasa on Feb. 10, 2029; and the 45-night Silk & Sands Passage from Cape Town to Athens on April 7, 2029.

Benefits for guests on those longer itineraries include air credit of up to $4,500 per guest, a one-night pre-expedition hotel stay, private arrival and departure transfers, laundry service, unlimited Wi-Fi and an exclusive shoreside experience. Guests booked on the 128-night Grand Odyssey Expedition receive three exclusive shoreside experiences.

“Extraordinary Expeditions represent the next evolution of the immersive, year-round expedition experiences that define Atlas Ocean Voyages,” Rodriguez said. He said the longer voyages were created for travelers seeking “deeper, more meaningful ways to experience the world.”

Savings campaign covers select 2026-27 departures

Atlas is also running its End of Summer Savings offer on select 2026-27 expeditions, including Antarctica departures and 2027 Epicurean and Cultural Expeditions in the Mediterranean, Iberia, the British Isles and Northern Europe. The promotion offers savings of up to $6,779 per person and a $250 onboard credit.

For Best Available Fare bookings, Atlas lists bonus savings of up to $3,479 per guest and an air credit of up to $1,000 per guest. Bookings run through Sept. 30, 2026.
