Aurora Opens 2028 Season With New Cultural Expeditions
Aurora also opened its expedition ships to children aged six and older, with savings of up to fifty percent off the Best Available Fare for ages six to fifteen.
Aurora Expeditions has opened bookings for its Northern Hemisphere 2028 season, with 29 departures across 20 countries and territories and the debut of seven Cultural Expeditions. The program spans 161 ports across the Arctic, Europe and Central America, combining 16 Polar Expeditions, six Discovery Expeditions and the new Cultural product.
The Cultural Expeditions extend Aurora’s non-polar programming into Europe, adding itineraries across the British Isles, Ireland, the Mediterranean, Europe’s Atlantic coastline and Scandinavia. Aurora said the product builds on its 35-year exploration history.
Seven Cultural Expeditions join the 2028 schedule
The first Cultural Expeditions include The Isles of the British Isles, an 11-day Sylvia Earle sailing from London to Dublin departing April 19, 2028. Douglas Mawson will operate Valletta to Lisbon: The Mediterranean: Beyond the Icons, a 15-day itinerary departing May 31, 2028, followed by A Northern Saga, a 14-day Amsterdam-to-Bergen voyage departing June 26, 2028.
Cultural and Discovery departures will include Aurora’s Your Choice Inclusive Experiences, which let guests select included small-group activities based on personal interests and preferred activity level. The company did not list specific shore experiences by port in the announcement.
Polar and Discovery departures remain central
The 2028 polar program includes two new Norway, Svalbard and Greenland itineraries. Norwegian Fjords & Svalbard Explorer will sail aboard Sylvia Earle for 11 days from Tromso to Oslo via Longyearbyen, departing June 8, 2028. Wild Greenland: An Active Arctic Expedition is scheduled as a nine-day Sylvia Earle voyage from Reykjavik via Kangerlussuaq, departing Aug. 23, 2028.
Returning polar itineraries include Jewels of the Arctic: Svalbard & East Greenland and Northwest Passage Sylvia Earle. The Discovery program adds six voyages across Scotland, Iceland, Greenland, Norway and Central America, including Northern Lights & Wild Isles: Iceland, Greenland to Scotland, a 14-day Douglas Mawson sailing from Reykjavik to Aberdeen departing Sept. 23, 2028. Aurora’s fleet consists of Greg Mortimer, Sylvia Earle and Douglas Mawson.
Aurora opens its ships to younger passengers
Aurora has also opened its expedition ships to children aged six and older and is offering children aged six to 15 savings of up to 50 percent off the Best Available Fare.
“Some of life’s most meaningful lessons are learned when we step outside the classroom and experience the world for ourselves,” said Katie Malone, Aurora Expeditions’ chief marketing officer.
Starting fares were not disclosed. The current savings offer of up to 25 percent on selected voyages applies to bookings deposited by Oct. 31, 2026.
