Cordelia Sky to Launch From Mumbai in October 2026
Norwegian Sky completed its final Norwegian Cruise Line voyage on September 9, a nine-day Mediterranean sailing from Barcelona to Piraeus.
Cordelia Cruises will launch Cordelia Sky from Mumbai on Oct. 23, 2026, with two- to five-night cruises to Goa and Lakshadweep. The 77,104-gross-ton former Norwegian Sky will also operate seven-night Southeast Asia itineraries between Chennai and Singapore.
The vessel will become Cordelia’s second ship after Cordelia Empress. The company, founded in 2020 and launched as a cruise brand in 2021, is taking the ship from Norwegian Cruise Line under a 10-year bareboat charter that includes a nominal purchase option.
Built in 1999 and refurbished in 2024, the 848-foot ship has capacity for 1,944 guests at double occupancy and carries approximately 899 crew members.
Where Cordelia Sky will sail
The Mumbai program includes two-night weekend cruises, three-night Goa sailings, four-night Lakshadweep voyages and five-night itineraries combining Goa and Lakshadweep.
From Chennai, Cordelia Sky will sail seven-night itineraries connecting India with Phuket, Langkawi, Kuala Lumpur and Singapore. A corresponding itinerary will operate from Singapore to Chennai.
Onboard Cordelia Sky
Cordelia Sky has 1,002 staterooms, comprising 429 interior cabins, 313 ocean-view cabins, 245 Mini Suites, 11 Penthouse Suites and four Chairman’s Suites. The Mini Suites have private balconies, while the Chairman’s Suites include separate living, dining and bedroom areas, balcony hot tubs, and butler and concierge service.
The ship’s 10 dining venues will serve regional Indian dishes, vegetarian and Jain menus, sushi and Italian food, alongside buffet and outdoor dining options. Cordelia also plans to operate 11 bars and lounges.
The 930-seat Marquee Theatre will host the ship’s principal production show, additional productions and variety acts. The ship will also offer live music, games and performances, with areas for pickleball, cricket and gaming.
Outdoor facilities include two pools, five hot tubs and more than 30,000 square feet of open deck space. The ship also has a fitness center, spa, supervised activities for younger passengers, and dedicated spaces for children and teenagers.
Leaving the Norwegian fleet
Norwegian Sky completed its final Norwegian Cruise Line voyage on Sept. 9, a nine-day Mediterranean sailing from Barcelona to Piraeus that ended its 27-year career with the operator. A planned onward itinerary through the Red Sea was canceled because of the regional geopolitical and security situation.
Conversion work had been scheduled for Dubai Drydocks World, but the security situation required the refurbishment to be moved to another location. During the farewell voyage, the ship’s shops, art gallery and spa operated with restrictions, while its restaurants, bars and lounges remained open as usual.
The transfer is part of Norwegian Cruise Line Holdings’ fleet optimization program, under which five ships are scheduled to leave its brands between 2026 and 2028 while 16 new ships are due through 2037. NCLH CEO John Chidsey told analysts that the strategy includes “sharpening brand positioning, elevating the product and guest experience, and strengthening commercial performance over time.”
Norwegian Sun is scheduled to follow under a similar charter arrangement in autumn 2027. The 78,309-gross-ton ship will be renamed Cordelia Sun and begin operating Indian itineraries in late 2027 with capacity for 1,878 guests at double occupancy.
