Coast Guard Evacuates Two Cruise Passengers in Florida Keys
A Coast Guard Station Marathon boat crew transported a seventy-eight-year-old man and a seventy-two-year-old woman before local emergency medical personnel took over.
The U.S. Coast Guard medically evacuated two passengers from a cruise ship about 12 miles south of Marathon in the Florida Keys on Tuesday. The patients, a 78-year-old man and a 72-year-old woman, required a higher level of medical care.
A boat crew from Coast Guard Station Marathon responded to the vessel and transported both passengers ashore. Local emergency medical personnel then assumed their care. Both were reported in stable condition.
Station Marathon handles search-and-rescue missions and other distress cases across the Florida Keys.
Officials did not release further information about either passenger’s medical condition.
