Carnival Cruise Line opened its America250 shipboard community celebration series on Sunday, June 28, 2026, aboard the 2,124-guest Carnival Pride at the Port of Baltimore, hosting invited community partners, veterans, first responders, business leaders and public officials. The Baltimore program came ahead of a wider schedule of onboard events and fireworks-viewing meetups around the July 4 holiday.
Carnival is an official programming partner of America250, the national semiquincentennial commemoration developed through the congressionally created U.S. Semiquincentennial Commission. The cruise line is using its U.S. homeport network, fleetwide programming and both-coast ship gatherings as the main cruise components of its anniversary plans.
Baltimore event centers on military and community guests
"As America's cruise line, we're proud to celebrate America's 250th anniversary in our homeport cities," said Christine Duffy, Carnival Cruise Line president. "We're bringing people together to honor our nation, celebrate the local community and thank those who protect our freedom."
A 40-foot patriotic Uncle Sam hat greeted guests from the ship's top deck during embarkation. The program opened with a historic color guard and included the national anthem, a festive cake and a military tribute for active-duty service members, veterans and first responders. Each military member and veteran in attendance received a limited-edition America250 challenge coin. Dr. Seuss's The Cat in the Hat also made an appearance in patriotic attire, part of the children's programming Carnival is using across the anniversary celebration.
Carnival Pride departed Baltimore at 4:30 p.m. for a seven-night Bahamas sailing with calls scheduled for Nassau, Princess Cays and Celebration Key. The ship is scheduled to be at sea on July 4 before returning to Baltimore for debarkation the following day.
Carnival Pride is part of Carnival's Baltimore and Tampa deployment. Baltimore's Cruise Maryland terminal at South Locust Point handles year-round Carnival and Royal Caribbean operations to destinations including the Bahamas, Bermuda, the Caribbean and Canada/New England.
Fleetwide program moves to July 4 events
Carnival's broader America250 lineup includes ship decorations, Red, White and Blue deck parties, US YAY! parties with balloon drops, specialty cocktails, strawberry shortcake, limited-edition America250 souvenir Coca-Cola cans and an "America's Cruisin" beer. During sailings the week of July 4, one military family on each voyage will receive an American flag flown over the U.S. Capitol. Veterans and active-duty military guests on those sailings will receive a special-edition pin.
Carnival brand ambassador John Heald also shared a patriotic July 4 menu for onboard service, including "Patriotic Red, White & Blue Spinach Salad," barbecue chicken and "The Great American Apple Pie" served with vanilla ice cream. The line has also begun adding a "From Sea to Shining Sea" crest to the bows of U.S.-based ships, starting with Carnival Magic and Carnival Legend.
On July 4, Carnival Venezia, Carnival Elation, Carnival Conquest, Carnival Glory, Carnival Pride, Carnival Sunrise and Carnival Freedom are scheduled to gather near Celebration Key, Carnival's Grand Bahama destination that opened in July 2025, for an East Coast fireworks show. On the West Coast, Carnival Firenze, Carnival Radiance and Carnival Luminosa will position for views of the Port of San Diego's Big Bay Boom, where Carnival is the official cruise line sponsor.
MSC Cruises has also announced July 4 programming for ships sailing from U.S. homeports, including special cocktails and activities. Carnival's community events and shipboard programming are part of its America250 partnership.
The homeport celebration series continues June 30 in Long Beach aboard Carnival Radiance. Two additional shipboard community events are scheduled for July 2: Carnival Elation in Jacksonville and Carnival Paradise in Tampa.
