Carnival Opens 2028-29 Baltimore Cruises With Luminosa Joining Miracle
Carnival Miracle’s September 2028 Baltimore schedule opens with two eight-day Canada/New England cruises calling at Portland, Halifax and Saint John.
Carnival Cruise Line has opened bookings for its 2028/29 Baltimore schedule, with Carnival Luminosa, the former Costa Luminosa, set to begin sailing from the port in November 2028 following a dry dock. The ship will join Carnival Miracle, offering departures to The Bahamas, Bermuda, Canada/New England and the Caribbean.
The newly released voyages run through April 2029, range from six to 14 days and cover 22 destinations. The dry dock will refresh Luminosa’s onboard spaces, although Carnival did not specify the individual upgrades or disclose starting fares in the schedule announcement.
Shorter sailings and extended Caribbean voyages
Bahamas cruises aboard Luminosa will last seven or eight days, while Miracle will offer six- to eight-day departures to The Bahamas and Bermuda. Both ships will operate nine-day Eastern Caribbean itineraries; Miracle’s routes include Amber Cove, San Juan and either St. Maarten or St. Thomas.
Miracle’s newly opened Baltimore inventory starts in September 2028, two months before Luminosa’s arrival, with two eight-day Canada/New England cruises that month. Scheduled destinations include Portland, Maine; Halifax, Nova Scotia; and Saint John, New Brunswick.
Across the Baltimore program, calls at Carnival’s Paradise Collection destinations include Celebration Key on Grand Bahama; RelaxAway, Half Moon Cay; Grand Turk; and Amber Cove.
For longer voyages, both ships will offer 12- and 14-day Carnival Journeys cruises to the Caribbean. Miracle’s newly released schedule contains eight of these extended departures, covering both Eastern and Southern Caribbean destinations.
The longer itineraries on both vessels include Aruba, Curaçao, Barbados, Martinique, St. Kitts and St. Lucia. Luminosa’s Southern Caribbean program also includes St. Croix, St. Maarten and St. Thomas, while Miracle’s extended routes feature Antigua, Bonaire, Dominica and Tortola.
Baltimore before and after the Key Bridge collapse
Baltimore handled 444,122 cruise passengers in 2023, when the port had 101 homeport cruises and six port-of-call visits. The Key Bridge collapse in 2024 temporarily closed the port and disrupted cruise operations, and passenger traffic that year declined about 12% from 2023.
A full cruise schedule resumed in 2025. The port recorded 413,639 cruise passengers that year, placing 2025 among its 10 highest historical totals.
