Carnival Luminosa Begins Three-Part Repositioning to Brisbane
After an eight-day Pacific crossing, Luminosa will call at Otaru, Aomori, Shimizu and Kobe before Tokyo, then sail to Singapore for a planned drydock.
Carnival Luminosa departed San Francisco on September 20, 2026, on an 18-night transpacific cruise to Tokyo, with calls in Alaska and Japan. The voyage begins a three-part repositioning to Australia that includes a planned drydock before the ship’s 2026-27 season in Brisbane.
The sailing is among Carnival Cruise Line’s longest itineraries this year and concludes Luminosa’s first San Francisco homeport season, which began in May.
The opening portion of the seven-destination itinerary included Ketchikan and Icy Strait Point, along with scenic cruising at Hubbard Glacier. An eight-day Pacific crossing follows the Alaska segment. The ship then calls at Otaru, Aomori, Shimizu and Kobe before the cruise ends in the Japanese capital.
The next leg is a 14-night sailing through the Far East and Southeast Asia. That itinerary includes destinations in Japan, South Korea, Hong Kong and Vietnam, with passengers disembarking in Singapore in late October.
Luminosa is expected to undergo its drydock there before departing in late November for the final repositioning leg. That cruise will call at Australian destinations before reaching Brisbane in mid-December.
From its Australian homeport, the ship is scheduled to offer itineraries ranging from three to 14 nights to Queensland and islands in the South Pacific. The deployment runs through April 2027.
Built by Fincantieri at Marghera, Italy, in 2009, Luminosa joined the Carnival fleet in 2022. The 92,720-gross-ton ship accommodates 2,260 passengers at double occupancy and has a crew complement of 926.
During its California deployment, the ship offered four-night Baja California cruises alongside longer Alaska and Canada sailings. Its 10-night northern itineraries included calls at Juneau, Skagway, Ketchikan and Prince Rupert.
Following the Australian deployment, Luminosa is scheduled to return to San Francisco for a second summer season in 2027.
