Carnival Has Yet to Clarify Its December Dynamic Pricing Rules
Carnival’s FunPack bundles go on sale online October 13–30 for sailings through December 2027, with adult cabinmates required to buy the same bundle.

Carnival Needs to Explain What Its December 1 Pricing Deadline Actually Means
Carnival Cruise Line has set December 1, 2026, as the start of dynamic pricing for drinks and WiFi. It has not said whether that means purchases made from that date or sailings departing from that date. Nor has it explained what happens to packages bought before the change.
That is a basic piece of the rollout to leave unfinished. I expect a cruise line that advertises savings for buying ahead to tell guests exactly which pricing rules will apply to those purchases.
The new model will cover three beverage packages and four internet plans, with rates varying by sailing length, itinerary and season. Carnival has not published the new prices or explained why it is making the change. It also has not said whether this is permanent or a trial.
Without published rates, variable pricing alone is not enough to conclude that every guest will pay more. But Carnival can explain the purchase rules without publishing every price for every sailing. Guests should already know whether buying before December 1 settles anything.
What the drink packages cost today
For now, CHEERS! costs $69.95 per person, per day before departure and $74.95 onboard. It includes eligible alcoholic and nonalcoholic drinks, with most included beverages subject to a $20 price limit. Qualifying drinks above that limit receive a 25% discount.
CHEERS! Zero Proof, introduced in September 2025, costs $29.99 per person, per day before sailing. It covers nonalcoholic options including soda, standard juices, bottled water, premium coffee and smoothies.
Bottomless Bubbles covers soda and juice and costs $6.95 per child, per day and $11.99 per adult, per day.
Beverage packages generally must be bought for the entire cruise. A 20% service charge currently applies to drink-package purchases, although Carnival has not detailed how charges will be presented under dynamic pricing. Guests need that information when comparing the advertised rate with what they will actually pay.
WiFi still rewards advance purchase, for now
Carnival’s Social internet plan starts at $20.40 per person, per day when bought online before departure. It provides access to supported social-media apps and airline websites but excludes general web browsing, email and streaming.
Value starts at $23.80 per person, per day and adds general browsing and email. It does not support music or video streaming.
Premium starts at $25.50 per person, per day and supports streaming and video calls where coverage permits. Premium Multi-Device costs $90 per day for up to four devices. It is available only through online advance purchase.
The line’s WiFi package page advertises average savings of 15% for advance purchases compared with onboard prices, and savings of up to 25% for Premium Multi-Device. Carnival has yet to explain how those advance-purchase offers will work under the new model.
FunPacks add another buying decision
Alongside the pricing announcement, Carnival is introducing FunPack bundles that combine drinks, connectivity and other benefits. They must be bought online from October 13–30, 2026, for departures from October 31, 2026, through December 31, 2027. Carnival has not said whether more booking windows will follow. The sailing range extends beyond the December pricing change.
The Epic FunPack costs $99 per person, per day and includes the full CHEERS! package and Premium WiFi. It also provides two eligible shore excursions valued at up to $100 each and two eligible specialty-dining meals valued at up to $55 each. Other benefits include 50% off eligible spa treatments, 50% off eligible Dreams Studio photography packages, a bottle of sparkling wine and one bag of wash-and-fold laundry.
The $60-per-person daily Social FunPack combines Premium WiFi with the exclusive CHEERS! Social beverage option. That includes unlimited nonalcoholic drinks and three alcoholic beverages per day, each priced at up to $20. The bundle also provides one eligible shore excursion valued at up to $100 and one eligible specialty-dining meal valued at up to $55, along with 50% off eligible spa treatments and 50% off eligible Dreams Studio photography packages. Unused alcoholic-drink allowances expire each day.
Zero Proof FunPack costs $50 per person, per day and combines CHEERS! Zero Proof with Value WiFi, one $50 shore-excursion discount and one $25 specialty-dining discount. For guests ages 3–17, the $25-per-day Kidstarter includes Bottomless Bubbles, Social WiFi, arcade tokens and retail benefits.
Carnival advertises savings of 35%–55% against individual purchases, depending on the bundle and cruise length. I would price these at the stateroom level, not stop at the advertised per-person rate. If one guest age 21 or older buys a FunPack, every other guest in that age group sharing the cabin must buy the same bundle. That requirement does not apply to children buying Kidstarter.
Benefits also have eligibility restrictions. Faster to the Fun, Bonsai Teppanyaki and The Chef’s Table are excluded. For the Social and Epic FunPacks, a dining benefit can be used only for an eligible meal costing no more than $55. Guests cannot apply the $55 value to a higher-priced meal and pay the difference, and any unused value from a less expensive meal is forfeited.
The shore-excursion benefits can be applied to excursions costing more than $100, with the guest paying the difference, but unused value from a less expensive excursion is forfeited. Applicable dining and excursion selections must be made before sailing. Unused benefits are non-refundable.
There is enough detail here for guests to assess the bundles’ inclusions and restrictions. What is missing is the equally basic explanation of how the December change treats advance purchases. Carnival should resolve that while the October FunPack sales window is still open. A firm deadline to buy deserves firm rules about what the purchase secures.
