Awai Cheung to Lead Tai Chi Workshops on Vasco da Gama Voyages

On the Panama City-to-Puerto San Antonio sailing, guests will spend Christmas Eve onboard, while Vasco da Gama is scheduled to reach Arica, Chile, by New Year's Eve.

Nicko Cruises has announced that health expert, lecturer and author Awai Cheung will join three voyages aboard Vasco da Gama between October 2026 and January 2027. He will introduce guests to traditional Chinese movement practices, including Tai Chi and Qigong, through workshops and practical sessions.

Group courses and workshops carry no additional charge. Material from Cheung’s new book will also form part of the onboard program.

The selected departures cover Norway’s North Cape, South America’s Pacific coast and the South Seas. The announcement did not include a statement from Cheung or a Nicko Cruises executive.

The North Cape voyage is scheduled for October 19 to November 3, 2026, sailing roundtrip from Hamburg. Its Norwegian itinerary includes Bergen, the Geirangerfjord and Lofoten, as well as Honningsvag, Trondheim, Nordfjordeid, Stavanger and Arendal.

Cheung’s next appearance will be on the Pacific-coast voyage departing Panama City on December 12, 2026, and ending at Puerto San Antonio on January 4, 2027. Ecuadorian calls include Guayaquil and Puerto Lopez, followed by a Peruvian program that includes Callao, Paracas Bay and Matarani. Guests will spend Christmas Eve onboard, where festive decorations are planned. The ship is scheduled to reach Arica, Chile, by New Year’s Eve before continuing to its final port.

The South Seas voyage runs from January 4 to January 22, 2027, with an itinerary from Santiago de Chile to Papeete, Tahiti. Easter Island is on the route, with its volcanic landscape and Moai statues, followed by the remote Pitcairn Islands.

Later calls include the lagoons and coral reefs of Fakarava and Rangiroa in the Tuamotu archipelago. The ship will then visit Raiatea before concluding the voyage in Papeete.
