Atlas Ocean Voyages Lets Guests Cancel 2026 Trips 15 Days Out
Flexible booking terms are becoming a sharper competitive tool in expedition cruising, where costly flights and remote itineraries can make travelers cautious about committing early.
Atlas Ocean Voyages is introducing Atlas Assurance, a 2026 booking program that lets guests on eligible Arctic, Mediterranean and Northern Europe expeditions cancel for any reason up to 15 days before sailing and receive 100 percent of the cruise fare value as a Future Cruise Credit. The offer applies to new, paid-in-full bookings made April 20 to May 15, 2026, on voyages departing through Aug. 31, 2026.
The program gives guests a later cancel-for-any-reason deadline, with reimbursement issued as credit rather than cash. It also gives travel advisors another selling point for 2026 Europe-region departures.
Program terms and eligible costs
“Atlas Assurance reflects our commitment to putting guests first, offering the flexibility they expect while preserving the full value of their travel experience,” said Kristian C. Anderson, executive vice president, global sales. Anderson also called the policy “a powerful tool for our travel advisor partners,” saying it gives advisors more confidence when recommending Atlas to clients.
Reimbursement is capped at the cruise fare. Government taxes, airfare, travel insurance and select third-party services are excluded and remain subject to standard refund rules.
Atlas’s active Portugal-flagged fleet consists of World Navigator, World Traveller and World Voyager. The Assurance offer applies across the line’s 2026 Arctic, Mediterranean and Northern Europe sailings rather than a single named deployment.
Atlas pairs flexibility with air-credit promotion
Atlas Assurance overlaps with Atlas’s Explorer’s Choice promotion for select Mediterranean, Northern Europe and Arctic sailings. Under that offer, available for bookings made April 2 to June 30, 2026, or until capacity is exhausted, guests can choose double Air Credits of up to $3,000 per suite, a complimentary pre-expedition hotel night or complimentary Wi-Fi. Reserve Collection suite guests may select two amenities.
“Air travel is an integral part of the overall journey when planning a European summer vacation,” said James A. Rodriguez, president and CEO of Atlas Ocean Voyages. The promotion applies to selected Epicurean Expeditions in the Mediterranean, Cultural Expeditions in Northern Europe and Polar Expeditions to the Arctic. Named examples include a 12-night Longyearbyen-to-Oslo voyage on June 18, a 10-night Piraeus-to-Rome itinerary on July 20 and an 11-night Reykjavik-to-Kangerlussuaq sailing on Aug. 20.
Ponant’s April policy uses a different structure
Ponant’s April Serenity Policy differs from Atlas Assurance. Bookings made April 1 to April 30, 2026, across Ponant, Paul Gauguin and Aqua Expeditions can be changed or postponed without penalty, but deposits remain non-refundable and requests must be submitted at least 90 days before the original departure.
Under Ponant’s terms, the replacement cruise must take place within the same calendar year as the original departure or earlier, and it must carry an equal or higher fare. Atlas customers who use Assurance must attach the Future Cruise Credit to a new booking within 12 months and complete the replacement trip by Dec. 31, 2027.
