Ohio Cruise Passengers Arrested After Alleged Cabin Attack
Sheriff Wayne Ivey said the encounter began after a passenger asked Gannon Jacox and Brooklyn Hicks to quiet down while they were drinking and arguing loudly.
Two Ohio cruise passengers were arrested after allegedly forcing their way into another guest’s cabin and attacking two adults and a 9-year-old child before their unidentified ship returned to Port Canaveral on Saturday, Aug. 15, 2026. Gannon Jacox, 29, and Brooklyn Hicks, 28, were booked into the Brevard County Jail on felony and misdemeanor charges.
Brevard County Sheriff Wayne Ivey said the pair had been drinking and arguing loudly when one of the eventual victims asked them to quiet down. Authorities said none of the three victims was seriously injured.
Argument escalated at passenger cabin
Hicks allegedly went to confront the passenger, while Jacox followed and recorded the encounter on his phone. Authorities said Jacox verbally encouraged Hicks to attack the guests.
“The suspects then pushed their way into the victim’s room,” Ivey wrote in an Aug. 16 Facebook post, adding that the child was inside at the time.
Jacox allegedly struck all three occupants during the ensuing fight. Hicks threw punches and struck at least one victim, according to an arrest affidavit. Jacox suffered an injury to his right eye, although authorities did not determine whether it came from one of the victims or from Hicks during the altercation.
Both booked on felony charges
Hicks was booked at 1:41 p.m. on a felony charge of burglary with battery and a misdemeanor battery charge. Her total bond was set at $6,000.
Jacox was booked at 7:55 p.m. on felony allegations involving burglary with assault or battery and child abuse without great bodily harm, along with a misdemeanor battery charge. His bonds totaled $31,000.
Authorities have not named the ship
The Brevard County Sheriff’s Office did not identify the cruise line or vessel involved. Port Canaveral’s schedule listed four ships in port that Saturday: Royal Caribbean International’s Adventure of the Seas, Disney Cruise Line’s Disney Treasure, and Carnival Cruise Line’s Mardi Gras and Carnival Freedom. All four vessels departed that evening as scheduled.
Both passengers remained in the Brevard County Jail following their arrests. Attorneys listed for Jacox and Hicks did not immediately respond to requests for comment.
