AmaWaterways Opens 2028 Europe Bookings for Australia and NZ
The launch offer runs through September 30, 2026, with savings of up to three thousand six hundred Australian dollars or four thousand New Zealand dollars per stateroom.
AmaWaterways has opened reservations for its 2028 European river cruise season to Australian and New Zealand travellers, with two new ships scheduled to join the fleet. The programme also introduces longer sailings in France and expands the choice of pre- and post-cruise land stays.
The additions will bring the company’s fleet to 38 ships, compared with 29 in 2025. AmaMaria will operate on the Rhine, while AmaGaia will join the line’s Douro programme in Portugal.
The launch offer provides savings of up to AU$3,600 or NZ$4,000 per stateroom for reservations made by September 30, 2026. Final payment remains due 90 days before the journey begins, and guests can book through travel advisors or directly with AmaWaterways.
“For Australians and New Zealanders, a river cruise is often part of a much bigger international holiday, so planning ahead makes sense,” said Steve Richards, AmaWaterways’ managing director for Australia and New Zealand.
New ships and longer French itineraries
AmaMaria is designed to accommodate 152 passengers in 76 staterooms, with accommodation including twin-balcony cabins and suites. The smaller AmaGaia will carry 102 guests in 51 staterooms, with balconies available in every suite and many cabins.
The new Elegance of Burgundy & Provence itinerary will offer 10- and 11-night journeys along the Rhône and Saône on selected departures in July and August. The schedule provides longer port stays, with more time for visits to historic towns, vineyards and destinations known for regional food and wine.
“Across the Rhine and Douro, we're continuing to invest in the destinations our guests want to experience,” Richards said, “while creating more choice in how they experience them.”
Land extensions across Europe
The expanded land programme includes new two-night stays in Dijon, Lyon and Aix-en-Provence.
In Poland, a new three-night Krakow extension will complement the Best of the Danube itinerary. Its programme includes tours of Schindler’s Factory and Auschwitz.
Porto is also among the land-stay options, alongside Nuremberg, Basel, Luxembourg and Brussels.
