Adora Cruises has opened its 2026 Tianjin season with the 85,619-gt Adora Mediterranea, which sailed from Tianjin International Cruise Home Port on June 7 on a six-day cruise to Jeju and Seoul, via Incheon, in South Korea.

The 2,680-passenger ship is scheduled to operate 25 voyages from Tianjin during the season, the line's fourth consecutive year homeporting in the city. The program keeps the ship in northern China through the summer, with South Korean ports anchoring the deployment.

The Tianjin season follows a scheduled shipyard period in Zhoushan for technical work and public-area upgrades. Tianjin International Cruise Home Port has a designed annual capacity of about 500,000 passengers and handled about 350,000 passengers in 2024.

South Korea itineraries anchor the Tianjin program

Adora Mediterranea's Tianjin program includes multiple five- and six-day sailings to destinations including Jeju, Seoul/Incheon, Busan and Yeosu. The line also listed two seven-day cruises, departing Aug. 1 and Oct. 1.

Adora Cruises said: "Tianjin is an important cruise homeport in northern China and one of the core markets Adora Cruises has long cultivated. In the future, we will continue to leverage the excellent location advantages and visitor potential of Tianjin Home Port to enrich the 'cruise and culture' experience, allowing more northern consumers to enjoy high-quality sea holidays right at their doorstep."

The line has tied the homeport program to its cruise-and-culture experience. From July 2 through the end of August, the ship is scheduled to host children's and family activities and workshops inspired by Mediterranean culture and ancient Greek art.

Shipyard work preceded the summer season

Ahead of the Tianjin season, Adora Mediterranea entered COSCO Shipping Heavy Industry (Zhoushan) Co., Ltd.'s No. 2 drydock on May 7 for a scheduled 10-day maintenance and upgrade project. Peak Ocean oversaw more than 1,650 square meters of interior refurbishment under a contract procured by Columbia Cruise Services on behalf of the shipowner.

The work focused on the main galley, the Deck 9 Lido buffet restaurant and the spa area. The shipyard period also included propulsion and machinery overhauls, structural repairs and a full hull repaint using silicone paint.

It was the yard's 12th cruise ship drydock since entering the cruise repair market in 2017. Prior cruise work at COSCO Shipping Heavy Industry (Zhoushan) has included Ovation of the Seas, Blue Dream Melody and Piano Land.

After the Zhoushan work, the ship had been scheduled to reposition to Qingdao for a May 21 themed voyage from Qingdao International Cruise Home Port. The five-day, four-night sailing was scheduled to call at Busan and Jeju before the vessel moved toward its main northern China program.

Adora Mediterranea has sailed elsewhere in China during 2026 as well, including a five-night Xiamen sailing to Manila and Boracay in April. Adora Cruises also listed five four-night international voyages from Dalian across the May 26-June 3 and Oct. 11-19 windows, with the latter period immediately following the Tianjin season.
