Viking Opens Bookings for 2028-29 Expedition Voyages
Into the Antarctic Circle crosses the sixty-six degrees thirty-three minutes latitude line, with Zodiac operations, kayaking among ice and guest scientific studies.
Viking has opened bookings for its 2028-29 expedition voyages, adding departure dates across Arctic, Antarctic and Great Lakes itineraries. The release puts seven named expedition products on sale, ranging from a 10-day Great Lakes cruise to an 81-day Nuuk-to-Ushuaia voyage, with the Polar Class 6 expedition ships Viking Octantis and Viking Polaris assigned to the expanded polar-region program.
The lineup gives Viking a mix of regional cruises, two-week polar sailings and longer north-south expedition itineraries, with Milwaukee, Toronto, Nuuk, Buenos Aires and Ushuaia among the named embarkation or disembarkation points. Viking did not publish starting fares for the newly released expedition departures.
Torstein Hagen, chairman and CEO of Viking, said the company’s guests seek “meaningful experiences and a deeper connection to the destinations they visit.” He added: “Our expedition voyages are designed to bring them closer to the natural world through immersive exploration and discovery, alongside scientists and destination experts.”
Polar program centers on Antarctica and the High Arctic
In Antarctica, Viking is selling the 15-day Into the Antarctic Circle itinerary from Buenos Aires to Ushuaia, crossing the 66 degrees 33 minutes line of latitude into the Antarctic Circle. The voyage includes Zodiac operations, kayaking among ice and opportunities for guests to take part in scientific studies.
The 13-day Antarctic Explorer also sails between Buenos Aires and Ushuaia, with programming focused on the Antarctic Peninsula’s icebergs and glaciers. In the Arctic, the 13-day Into the Northwest Passage itinerary operates roundtrip from Nuuk and includes Greenland’s peaks, Canadian High Arctic glaciers and Inuit customs and traditions.
The longest expedition product in the release is Arctic to Antarctic Explorer, an 81-day sailing from Nuuk to Ushuaia. The route follows Greenland, the Canadian High Arctic, the Americas and Antarctica, with calls or scenic cruising tied to the Bahamas, South America’s western coast and Antarctic waters.
Great Lakes departures include Milwaukee, Toronto and Duluth
The Great Lakes program includes Great Lakes Treasures, a 10-day roundtrip Milwaukee itinerary. That sailing visits islands in the Georgian Bay Biosphere Reserve, Flowerpot Island in Fathom Five National Marine Park and the pink granite isles of the Benjamin Islands.
Viking also listed Great Lakes Collection, a 15-day Toronto-to-Duluth voyage across the waterways of all five Great Lakes, with Niagara Falls included in the itinerary. The 62-day Longitudinal World Cruise IV starts in Milwaukee and ends in Ushuaia, linking North American cities with Chile’s fjords and other landscapes on a north-to-south route.
