Victory Casino Cruises Suspends Port Canaveral Sailings Indefinitely

Before the suspension, Victory I ran five-hour cruises twice daily from Terminal B-2, with casino play beginning about 45 minutes after departure.

Victory Casino Cruises owes customers a clearer refund timetable

Victory Casino Cruises is promising refunds without saying when it will pay them. Meanwhile, its reservations desk and casino hosts will remain unavailable until its only ship, Victory I, returns to service. No return date has been set.

The Port Canaveral operator has suspended operations indefinitely as the ship’s dry dock runs longer than planned. I’d put a dated refund update at the top of its customer communications now. A promise to return the money is welcome, but customers still have no payment timetable, and the reservations desk is unavailable for questions.

Passengers with paid reservations or deposits will receive refunds, according to the company. Online and telephone bookings have stopped.

The repairs have no announced finish date

“While we had hoped to resume sailing sooner, additional necessary work has extended our time out of service,” Captain Tim wrote in a message to customers.

Victory has not described that additional work or disclosed where the vessel is being serviced. Its website lists a September 28 departure, billed as a “Bon Voyage Cruise,” as the last sailing before the ship entered dry dock for scheduled work.

Necessary maintenance should take the time it needs, and nothing Victory has said suggests the repairs could have been finished sooner. The fault lies in what customers are being told.

Social media posts by Victory employees say staff have been furloughed. The operator did not immediately respond to FLORIDA TODAY’s request for comment on how many employees were affected or when the vessel might return.

One ship, an entire operation on hold

Before the shutdown, Victory ran five-hour cruises twice daily, Tuesday through Sunday, from Terminal B-2 at 180 Christopher Columbus Drive. Casino play began after the ship reached international waters, approximately 45 minutes after departure.

The four-deck vessel has approximately 40,000 square feet of casino and entertainment space, with more than 600 slot machines and table games. Bars, dining areas, lounges and a sportsbook lounge round out the onboard facilities.

With no second ship, an extended dry dock stops the whole operation. Victory says it has carried more than 3 million passengers from its Port Canaveral terminal over 16 years. None of that history answers the immediate question facing customers with money committed to a sailing.

In its message, the company acknowledged passengers’ disappointment and thanked them for their calls, messages and encouragement. It plans to announce a confirmed return-to-sailing date on its website and Facebook page.

Those channels can carry a refund timetable now, without waiting for Victory to settle its sailing calendar.
