Tianjin Cruise Homeport Enters Peak Summer With Two Ships
Visio became the first cruise ship above one hundred thousand gross tons to homeport in Northeast China during its Dalian maiden call.
Tianjin International Cruise Homeport has moved into peak summer operations with two cruise ships deployed from the northern Chinese port, as Adora Cruises’ Adora Mediterranea and Tianjin Oriental’s Visio operate overlapping South Korea-focused programs. It is the port’s first dual-ship deployment of the season after a period in which Tianjin’s cruise capacity was largely limited to single-ship trials.
Adora Mediterranea is scheduled for 25 sailings between June 7 and October 11, and Visio adds five-day itineraries from Tianjin after earlier deployment from Dalian.
Adora Mediterranea begins fourth Tianjin season
Adora Mediterranea opened Adora Cruises’ 2026 Tianjin season on June 7 with a six-day cruise to Jeju and Seoul, via Incheon, in South Korea. The ship’s Tianjin program includes multiple five- and six-day sailings to Jeju, Seoul, Busan and Yeosu, along with two seven-day departures scheduled for August 1 and October 1.
The deployment is Adora Cruises’ fourth year homeporting in Tianjin. “Tianjin is an important cruise homeport in northern China and one of the core markets Adora Cruises has long cultivated,” Adora Cruises said.
Before shifting north to Tianjin, Adora Mediterranea completed a 10-day drydock at COSCO Shipping Heavy Industry in Zhoushan in early May and then operated a “Sea Film Festival” themed sailing from Qingdao on May 21. The 85,619-gross-ton ship was built in 2003 and carries 2,114 passengers at normal occupancy, with a maximum passenger capacity of 2,680.
Visio adds capacity after Dalian deployment
Visio made its Dalian maiden call on May 12, when it became the first cruise ship above 100,000 gross tons to homeport in Northeast China. Operated by Tianjin Oriental International Cruise Line, the ship is a 102,587-gross-ton vessel built by Fincantieri in 2004, with capacity for up to 3,250 passengers and 1,068 crew.
Tianjin Oriental’s cruise fleet includes MS Dream, which has operated since September 2023, and Visio, which entered revenue service in March 2026 after a major refit in Qingdao in December 2025. Visio previously sailed under names including Costa Magica before joining Tianjin Oriental’s program.
Tianjin positions for a two-ship summer
Tianjin International Cruise Homeport has two berths with a combined quay length of 625 meters, allowing two large cruise ships to berth simultaneously. The homeport has an annual passenger capacity of 500,000 and handled nearly 250,000 passengers year-to-date in 2025. Full-year traffic was estimated at 300,000 passengers.
The two-ship homeport pattern is expected to continue into early October. After that, Adora Mediterranea’s deployment may shift. Adora’s China planning also includes Guangzhou/Nansha, tied to Adora Flora City, the company’s second domestically built cruise ship expected for delivery in November.
