Star Trek Cruise Marks 10th Edition With 2027 New Orleans Sailing
Star Trek’s long-running cruise underscores the strength of themed charters, where nostalgia and fandom can support full-ship entertainment at sea.
Star Trek: The Cruise X will sail February 20-27, 2027, from New Orleans aboard Royal Caribbean International's Mariner of the Seas. The seven-day charter is scheduled to call at Cozumel, Mexico; George Town, Grand Cayman; and Montego Bay, Jamaica.
The sailing marks the 10th edition of Star Trek: The Cruise and ties into several franchise anniversaries: 40 years of Star Trek: The Next Generation, 10 years of Star Trek: Discovery and five years of Star Trek: Strange New Worlds.
Franchise cast members headline the 2027 sailing
The guest lineup spans multiple Star Trek series and includes George Takei, Jonathan Frakes, LeVar Burton, Gates McFadden, John de Lancie, Denise Crosby, Nana Visitor, Chase Masterson, Casey Biggs, Robert Picardo, Garrett Wang, Tim Russ, Connor Trinneer, Jason Isaacs, Mary Wiseman, Wilson Cruz, Mary Chieffo, Todd Stashwick, Mica Burton, Celia Rose Gooding, Melissa Navia, Dan Jeannotte, Dawnn Lewis and Noël Wells.
Onboard programming is built around live performances, cast interviews, karaoke, yoga sessions, whiskey tastings, blackjack, trivia competitions and themed evening events. Bookings are open. Cruise fares cover admission to the main performances, parties, interviews and events, plus meals in select dining venues. The announcement did not list a starting fare or include an executive comment.
Mariner of the Seas gives the charter a larger platform
Mariner of the Seas is a Voyager-class Royal Caribbean ship built in 2003 and last refurbished in 2018. The Bahamas-registered vessel is about 1,020 feet long, has 15 decks and carries roughly 3,100 to 3,500 passengers in typical operation, with maximum capacity listed at more than 4,000 passengers.
Onboard features include outdoor pools, whirlpools, a FlowRider surf simulator, waterslides, a rock climbing wall, ice skating rink, mini golf, sports court, theater, spa and fitness center. Those venues give the charter multiple spaces for performance programming, themed activities and fan events across the weeklong sailing.
New Orleans departure continues the official cruise series
The official Star Trek: The Cruise series began in 2017, when the inaugural sailing departed Miami for Cozumel, Nassau and Great Stirrup Cay with William Shatner as host. Earlier Star Trek-themed voyages date back to fan-organized trips in the 1980s, but the current series is the franchise-sanctioned version run as a full-ship themed charter.
Royal Caribbean sailings out of New Orleans typically use the Julia Street Cruise Terminal at the Port of New Orleans, one of two adjacent cruise terminals on the Mississippi River. The port handles more than 1 million cruise passengers annually and sits near downtown.
More guest and programming updates are expected as bookings continue.
