Royal Caribbean Reroutes Baltimore Cruise Amid Northeast Weather
The replacement route calls at Port Canaveral before Nassau and Grand Bahama, with canceled-port shore excursions returned as refundable onboard credit.
Royal Caribbean has replaced Vision of the Seas’ planned Canada and New England cruise with a Florida and Bahamas itinerary because of adverse weather along North America’s Northeast coast. The ship was scheduled to leave Baltimore on September 24, 2026, but will depart a day later.
The replacement route calls at Port Canaveral, Nassau and Grand Bahama. The original nine-night itinerary included Boston, Portland and Halifax, an overnight visit to Saint John, and three days cruising in the North Atlantic.
Check-in and boarding have been pushed back to 4:30 p.m. Thursday because the ship’s preceding voyage was delayed. Departure is now scheduled for 3 p.m. Friday, September 25. The vessel will remain docked in Baltimore overnight.
In a statement to guests, Royal Caribbean said it had been tracking several weather systems along the planned route and had examined all available options.
“Due to unfavorable weather conditions and high winds, we must change our itinerary to ensure a safe and comfortable experience,” Royal Caribbean told passengers.
Guests who prepaid for Royal Caribbean shore excursions at the canceled ports will receive refunds in the form of refundable onboard credit.
The 78,340-gross-ton Vision of the Seas entered service in 1998 and accommodates 2,050 passengers at double occupancy, with a maximum capacity of 2,514.
The ship has further cruises scheduled from Baltimore before its seasonal move south. It is due to reposition to Puerto Rico in early November.
