Oasis of the Seas Cancels Port Canaveral Call After Nor’easter

Returning guests with independently booked airfare may claim up to $200 for domestic or $400 for international flight-change fees under Royal Caribbean’s revised policy.

Royal Caribbean International has canceled Oasis of the Seas’ September 29 call at Port Canaveral, Florida, after a nor’easter delayed the ship’s return to Cape Liberty, New Jersey, by 10 hours. Boarding for its seven-night Bahamas cruise departing September 27, 2026, will now begin at 8 p.m.

A sea day will replace the Florida visit, while the September 30 call at Nassau will start three hours earlier than planned, at 7:30 a.m. Departure from the Bahamian capital remains at 5:30 p.m. The October 1 visit to Perfect Day at CocoCay is unchanged, running from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Oasis of the Seas, completing a weeklong Bahamas voyage that began September 20, is expected to reach Cape Liberty at approximately 4 p.m. Disembarkation will begin at 4:30 p.m.

For embarking passengers, terminal arrival appointments originally started at 10 a.m., ahead of a planned 3 p.m. departure. The revised arrival window runs through 10:30 p.m., and all guests must be checked in and aboard by 11:30 p.m. Pre-booked airport-to-terminal transfers will follow the revised boarding schedule, leaving the airport at 8 p.m.

“Guests who arrive early will be turned away,” Royal Caribbean warned in its email to passengers. The line instructed travelers to follow their reassigned appointments, cautioning that early arrivals could face uncomfortable weather while waiting to return.

What Royal Caribbean is offering guests

Royal Caribbean will automatically cancel excursions purchased through the line for the dropped port call and return the payments as onboard credit. Passengers on the departing cruise will also receive a prorated, one-day credit for pre-purchased beverage, Wi-Fi and Ultimate Dining packages.

For disembarking guests, Royal Caribbean will automatically rearrange flights purchased through the cruise line and email the revised bookings to affected passengers. Travelers with independently booked airfare must contact their airlines; the line recommends replacement flights leaving no earlier than 8 p.m. Sunday.

For returning passengers, reimbursement limits for air and other transportation change fees are $200 per person for domestic flights and $400 per person for international flights. Guests unable to secure a flight departing that Sunday can also claim up to $200 per stateroom for hotel accommodation.

Staterooms without an internet package will receive a voucher for 60 minutes of access through the Royal Caribbean app to help arrange onward travel. Guests who prefer to make calls from the ship can contact Guest Services from their cabins.

Other Royal Caribbean departures affected

The storm has also disrupted two other Royal Caribbean sailings. Independence of the Seas, scheduled to leave Cape Liberty on September 26 for a five-night Bermuda cruise, was held until Sunday, shortening its destination visit. Vision of the Seas stayed overnight in Baltimore after its planned September 24 departure; when it sailed the following day, it headed to the Bahamas in place of its nine-night Canada and New England itinerary.

Oasis of the Seas is expected to return to New Jersey on October 4 as scheduled. The following seven-night Perfect Day Bahamas cruise is not currently expected to be affected.
