Holland America to Launch America 250 Cards by Veteran Artists
On Volendam's 2026 Grand World Voyage, a veterans meet-up led by a veteran officer and President Beth Bodensteiner will use the cards to send messages to other veterans.
Holland America Line said Feb. 25 it is partnering with Crane Stationery on a 12-card collection for America’s 250th anniversary, using original designs by three artists from the United States Veterans Artists Alliance. The keepsake cards depict Holland America ships and are scheduled to go on sale onboard at the end of April 2026.
The collection was created by Lindsay “Bones” Cordero, Amy R. Roberts and Jen LaVita. Each artist designed four cards. Holland America said one design corresponds to each of the line’s 11 ships but did not identify the subject of the 12th card. Pricing was not announced.
“This collaboration allows us to translate that heritage into a tangible experience our guests can truly connect with,” said Kacy Cole, chief marketing officer for Holland America Line.
The partnership pairs Holland America, founded in Rotterdam in 1873, with Crane, a Massachusetts stationery business dating to 1801. Crane’s paper history includes colonial-era paper money printed by Paul Revere, and its stationery has been used for high-profile U.S. civic and personal correspondence, including Roosevelt family Christmas cards and sympathy acknowledgements from Jacqueline Kennedy.
“Both of our brands are grounded in American Heritage, legacy and fine craftsmanship,” said Robert Buhler, CEO of Crane Stationery, describing the collection as a tribute to the anniversary and the artists’ work.
Veteran artists and onboard use
Cordero is a Washington, D.C.-based author-illustrator and former U.S. Air Force officer. Roberts works across landscapes, seascapes, cityscapes and figures, while LaVita, a former U.S. Army officer based in California, works primarily in acrylic and watercolor and serves on USVAA’s executive board.
USVAA is a multidisciplinary nonprofit founded in 2004 by military veterans and artists. On Volendam’s 2026 Grand World Voyage, Holland America plans a veterans meet-up open to veterans onboard, led by a veteran officer and Holland America Line President Beth Bodensteiner. Participants will use the specialty cards to send messages to other veterans.
Other America 250 retail and sailing plans
The Crane project is one of several Holland America tie-ins for the semiquincentennial. With Pendleton Woolen Mills, the line has created a numbered Alaska-themed throw blanket that will be sold onboard ships sailing in Alaska in 2026.
Holland America also plans a 28-day Pan Am 100th Anniversary Legendary Voyage in 2027, with an itinerary inspired by historic Pan Am Clipper routes and 18 ports along the Pan Am Great Circle Route in the Caribbean.
A separate America’s 250th Celebration: Stars and Stripes cruise departs Boston on July 4, 2026, with a late-night sailing timed for distant views of the city’s fireworks, a deck party with classic American picnic foods, calls including Norfolk, Virginia, and an overnight in New York.
Holland America plans to introduce additional limited-edition brand collaborations before July 4, 2026.
