Hapag-Lloyd Revives Classical Music Meets Meditation on Europa in 2027

The return of this hybrid program shows how luxury cruise lines are turning wellness into a cultural product, blending performance and mindfulness to differentiate longer ocean crossings.

Hapag-Lloyd Cruises will reintroduce its Classical Music Meets Meditation format aboard the 400-guest Europa in 2027, placing the themed program on a 12-day sailing from Santa Cruz to Cape Town. The voyage is scheduled for November 6-18, 2027, with fares listed from 3,540 and an early-booking discount available until January 31, 2027.

Hapag-Lloyd Cruises did not include an executive statement with the announcement. The fare notice did not specify a currency.

The Swiss CHAARTS ensemble, soprano Marlis Petersen and Italian composer and violinist Francesca Guccione are scheduled to provide the musical component. Their concerts will serve as the setting for daily yoga, meditation and bodywork sessions during the Atlantic voyage.

Hapag-Lloyd said the format is intended to let passengers experience sound as part of a physical practice, with music connected directly to relaxation and movement programming. Petersen is also due to lead exclusive sessions focused on breathwork and aromatherapy, drawing on voice, sensory perception and relaxation techniques.

Guests will also be able to book optional individual sessions during the sailing. The company did not provide further detail on pricing or capacity for those one-to-one appointments.

Europa is one of five vessels in the Hapag-Lloyd Cruises fleet, alongside Europa 2 and the Hanseatic expedition ships.

The Classical Music Meets Meditation concept has previously been associated with Europa voyages linking Santa Cruz de Tenerife and Cape Town, combining live performance with guided practices such as meditation, yoga and breathwork.
