Cordelia Sky to Launch Chennai-Singapore Cruises in 2027
Each week-long sailing is scheduled to visit Langkawi and Port Klang, include an overnight stay in Phuket, and spend two days at sea in the Indian Ocean and Bay of Bengal.
Cordelia Cruises plans to deploy Cordelia Sky on eight seven-night Chennai-Singapore sailings in mid-2027, giving the India-based line its first regular Southeast Asia cruise series. The former Norwegian Sky, due to enter Cordelia service in October 2026 after leaving Norwegian Cruise Line, will operate the open-jaw cruises from late June through late August 2027 with calls in Malaysia and Thailand.
The schedule adds an international leg after the ship’s inaugural Cordelia season of short cruises from Mumbai and Goa and before its return to western India later in 2027. It also expands Cordelia beyond Cordelia Empress, the former Empress of the Seas and the line’s only current ship.
Each week-long cruise calls in Malaysia and Thailand
The 2001-built ship is scheduled to reposition to Chennai in late June 2027 for the Southeast Asia program. Each one-week cruise includes Langkawi and Port Klang in Malaysia, an overnight call in Phuket, Thailand, and two sea days in the Indian Ocean and Bay of Bengal.
After the Southeast Asia season, Cordelia Sky is scheduled to return to Mumbai for two- to five-night cruises to West India and the Lakshadweep archipelago, including Agatti Island and Mormugao. The ship’s published schedules also include Cochin and cruises to nowhere.
Norwegian Sky’s final NCL voyage has been shortened
Before its transfer to Cordelia, Norwegian Sky is completing its farewell season for Norwegian Cruise Line. The 77,104-gross-ton ship carries 2,004 guests at double occupancy, has 899 crew and measures 848 feet in length.
Norwegian Cruise Line has revised the ship’s final voyage before the handover, shortening a planned 21-day sailing from Piraeus to Dubai into an 18-day cruise ending in Muscat, Oman, on September 27, 2026. The change removes Dubai and Doha, Qatar, from the itinerary and keeps the ship out of the Persian Gulf and the Strait of Hormuz.
“While the voyage is still several months away, we believe a proactive approach is appropriate given evolving conditions in the Middle East,” Norwegian Cruise Line told travel partners and booked guests. “We are revising the itinerary accordingly, and we will continue to monitor the situation for the safety and security of all aboard.”
Guests booked on the adjusted sailing are being offered a 15 percent prorated cruise-fare refund and a 15 percent future cruise credit valid for Norwegian Cruise Line sailings through December 31, 2027. They may also cancel for a full refund, while flights, transfers and prepaid tours booked through the line will be adjusted or refunded.
Cordelia’s fleet plan includes Norwegian Sun
Cordelia’s early-2025 agreement also covers Norwegian Sun, a 2001-built sister ship scheduled to join the Indian operator in late 2027 as Cordelia Sun. The ship is expected to offer India itineraries after entering the Cordelia fleet. The arrangement places both Norwegian Sky and Norwegian Sun with Cordelia first under charter before their sale is completed. Each vessel will be renovated for Cordelia. Details of that work have not been released.
