Carnival Crews Collect 5,000 Pounds in September Cleanups
Carnival Glory is scheduled to complete the final ship cleanup on September 30, which Carnival said would bring its entire fleet into the effort.
Carnival Cruise Line employees and community partners collected more than 5,000 pounds of debris during 31 beach and waterway cleanups in September, the company said in a Sept. 25, 2026, update. The activities were organized around International Coastal Cleanup Day on Sept. 19.
The line’s year-to-date total exceeded 7,200 pounds. That count covers shipboard and shoreside cleanups, including events held outside the September initiative.
Participants included 377 shipboard employees from 29 vessels and 111 shoreside staff. Teams collected approximately 175 bags of waste and debris during the month’s events.
Cleanup sites included Galveston, Texas, and the Florida homeports of Miami and Port Canaveral, as well as locations in Alaska. Other events took place in Australia, France, Greece, Mexico, The Bahamas and the wider Caribbean.
“We have the privilege of operating on the world's oceans and visiting some of its most beautiful coastal destinations,” said Christine Duffy, president of Carnival Cruise Line. She added that “with that privilege comes a responsibility to protect them.”
Local environmental organizations, port partners and community groups supported the initiative. The cleanups are part of Carnival’s Our Sea Pledge sustainability program, which also covers waste reduction, reuse and recycling.
