Azamara Adds 23 Golf-Focused Cruises for 2028

Each selected sailing will have a PGA Professional onboard, with golf events and course access ranging from Valderrama in Spain to Tokyo Golf Club in Japan.

Azamara Cruises will add 23 golf-focused cruises in 2028 through a new partnership with Premier Golf, pairing selected itineraries with course access, onboard programming and shore experiences. The sailings will span Europe, Asia, Australia, New Zealand and the Americas, with Asia singled out as a major part of the launch.

Azamara’s newest deployment includes itineraries in Japan, South Korea, Hong Kong and Southeast Asia. The program is aimed at golf enthusiasts, PGA Professionals, golf clubs and affinity groups, and gives travel advisors a commissionable golf package to sell through Premier Golf.

“Golf and travel have always shared a spirit of discovery,” said Dondra Ritzenthaler, chief executive officer of Azamara. Ritzenthaler said the partnership will offer “unique access to some of the world’s most celebrated golf destinations” alongside Azamara’s longer port stays.

Golf packages will tie sailings to named courses

Premier Golf-designed packages on select Azamara Golf Cruises will include opportunities to play courses such as Valderrama in Spain, Cabot Bordeaux GC in France, Royal Portrush in Northern Ireland, Kingsbarns in Scotland, Old Head Golf Links in Ireland, Tokyo Golf Club in Japan, Seven Mile Beach GC in Tasmania and New South Wales GC in Australia.

Each sailing will have a PGA Professional onboard. Azamara also plans golf-themed social events, welcome and farewell gatherings, lectures, talks, educational sessions, golf experiences ashore and optional resort golf packages before or after the cruise.

Advisors will get commission and sales training

Premier Golf, an Alpharetta, Georgia-based golf travel company founded in 1988, is offering travel advisors 10 percent commission on the value of a client’s golf package. A dedicated Premier Golf chapter will also be added to Azamara World Academy, giving advisors specialized training to promote and sell the golf cruises.

The golf product follows other cruise-and-land announcements from Azamara. Its 2027 overland program adds two- to five-day land journeys in Asia, Africa, South America and the South Pacific, while its 2027 Alaska Cruisetours will operate from June through August across Alaska and Western Canada as the line returns to Alaska after a seven-year absence.

Azamara has not yet released departure-by-departure information for the golf cruises. The line said additional sailing details and booking access will be available in the coming months.
