Adora Magic City to Launch First Shenzhen Homeport Season Aug. 13
Adora’s Shenzhen debut shows cruise capacity drifting toward the Greater Bay Area, positioning the city as a serious new gateway for South China’s outbound travel.
Adora Cruises will homeport Adora Magic City in Shenzhen for international sailings for the first time this summer, adding a new departure option from the Shenzhen International Cruise Port. The ship is scheduled to operate a series of international voyages between August 13 and September 16, with calls in Vietnam, South Korea, Malaysia and Brunei.
“We are delighted to bring Adora Magic City to Shenzhen this summer to meet the diverse travel demands of consumers in South China during the vacation season,” Adora Cruises said. The company positioned the move as part of a broader push in South China and the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, which includes Guangdong, Hong Kong and Macau.
Shenzhen homeport season: dates, trip lengths and destinations
During the August 13 to September 16 Shenzhen window, Adora Magic City is set to operate regular five-day, four-night and six-day, five-night itineraries built around international calls in Vietnam and South Korea. Ports and destinations referenced in the deployment plan include Hue (Chan May), Ha Long Bay and Nha Trang (Cam Ranh) in Vietnam, as well as Jeju in South Korea.
Adora also scheduled a longer voyage during the season. A nine-day, eight-night sailing titled the Maritime Silk Road Discovery Journey is set to depart on August 27, with planned calls at Kota Kinabalu in Malaysia, Muara in Brunei and Nha Trang (Cam Ranh) in Vietnam.
How the deployment shifts from Shanghai to Shenzhen
Adora Cruises said Adora Magic City is scheduled to operate earlier summer itineraries from Shanghai before transitioning south. From July 3 to August 13, the ship is set to sail five-day and six-day international routes from Shanghai to ports in South Korea, including Jeju, Busan and Yeosu.
The August 13 date is the handoff point between the Shanghai homeport period and the start of Shenzhen-based international sailings, with Shenzhen departures then running through September 16.
- Late June: Adora Cruises said a Sea Film Festival themed sailing season will run across all three Adora ships through late June.
- July 3 to August 13: Adora Magic City is scheduled to sail from Shanghai on international routes to South Korea, including Jeju, Busan and Yeosu.
- August 13 to September 16: The ship is set to begin its first Shenzhen homeport season for international itineraries, featuring regular five- and six-day cruises and a longer themed voyage.
- August 27: The nine-day, eight-night Maritime Silk Road Discovery Journey is scheduled to depart, with calls in Malaysia, Brunei and Vietnam.
“Cruise + culture” programming and summer-themed sailings
Alongside the itinerary rollout, Adora Cruises highlighted onboard programming tied to partnerships with China Foreign Culture Group Co., Ltd. and the Children’s Art Theater of the China Welfare Association. The partners are set to present a production titled Adora Mountains and Seas: Fantasy Journey on Adora Magic City from July 3 through August.
Adora Cruises said the program is built around Classic of Mountains and Seas, describing it as an immersive experience designed for a broad age range. “We are very pleased to be able to bring an immersive maritime cultural experience” themed to the mythology “this summer,” the company said, adding that the goal is to create a relaxed holiday experience that works for “guests of all ages.”
The company described the summer program as combining multiple formats, including stage performances, video exhibitions and interactive elements. Adora Cruises also said Adora Magic City is scheduled to exhibit the documentary Mountains and Seas, produced by China Central Radio and Television, and to offer a Little Navigator activity that introduces nautical culture through entertainment-based learning.
Greater Bay Area focus and Shenzhen market push
Adora Cruises said the Shenzhen deployment is intended to deepen its presence in the Greater Bay Area and support cruise tourism activity at Shenzhen International Cruise Port. The company also framed the move as part of its effort to develop a “cruise + culture” approach aimed at blending cruise vacations with cultural programming.
In its announcement, Adora said it aims to create “high-quality, culturally enriched sea vacations” through curated itineraries and onboard experiences, while strengthening partnerships connected to its regional operations.
