Adora Flora City to Homeport in Hong Kong for 2027 Season

Delivery is scheduled for November 6, 2026, before a November 22 maiden voyage from Guangzhou Nansha that will make Hong Kong its first port call.

Adora Cruises plans nearly 20 departures from Hong Kong in 2027 for Adora Flora City, China’s second domestically built cruise ship, which will use the city as a seasonal homeport. The schedule includes four- and five-night voyages to Vietnam and South Korea, alongside nine- and 10-day itineraries in Northeast and Southeast Asia.

The Hong Kong sailings will run in three periods: late March to early May, late June to late July, and late October to early November. Adora has identified the city as a base for expanding its operations in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area and reaching international markets.

“We are grateful for and welcome the Adora Flora City’s decision to operate from Hong Kong as its homeport,” said Chu Shui-man, acting commissioner for tourism of the Hong Kong government’s Culture, Sports and Tourism Bureau.

The programme also includes three cruises without port calls. Adora said it intends to increase its capacity in Hong Kong and support the city’s development as an international cruise hub in Asia.

The season coincides with the 30th anniversary of Hong Kong’s return to Chinese sovereignty.

A second domestically built ship

Built by Shanghai Waigaoqiao Shipbuilding, Adora Flora City measures 341 metres and has a gross tonnage of 141,900. Its 2,130 cabins and suites can accommodate up to 5,232 passengers.

The vessel is a sister ship to Adora Magic City, which was delivered in 2023. Adora said the new ship incorporates changes to space utilisation, onboard technology and the guest experience compared with its predecessor.

Adora Flora City joins Adora Magic City, Adora Mediterranea and Piano Land in a fleet whose routes cover East China, South China, North China and Hong Kong.

Crew preparations before the maiden voyage

Nearly 600 crew members boarded Adora Flora City on October 1, 2026, including its core management team. The captain, chief engineer and hotel director have taken up their posts, with the remaining crew due to join before the maiden voyage. The ship will employ approximately 1,300 crew members in total.

Chen Ranfeng, CEO of Adora Cruises, said the initial group came from more than 20 countries and had experience in international cruise operations and services. Niklas Peterstam, the first captain of Adora Magic City, and Wei Zhiyi, its first Chinese captain, will alternate as captains of the new vessel.

The crew’s preparation programme covers service standards, maritime regulations, safety fundamentals and the ship’s products. Staff will also test onboard systems and equipment, review passenger and operational flows, rehearse service scenarios and check supplies before formal operations begin.

Delivery is scheduled for November 6, 2026, followed by the maiden voyage from Guangzhou Nansha International Cruise Home Port on November 22, with Hong Kong as its first call. A separate overnight New Year’s cruise in Hong Kong will depart on December 30, allowing passengers to welcome 2027 in Victoria Harbour.
