Holland America Adds Pendleton Alaska Throw for 2026 Sailings

The blanket design uses mountains, forests, the Northern Lights and Alaska wildlife, with deep ocean blue and Holland America Line orange in its palette.

Holland America Line is adding a custom, numbered Pendleton Woolen Mills Alaska throw to onboard retail on ships sailing the state in 2026, one of several brand collaborations the line is using for America’s 250th anniversary. The product was announced for Alaska Statehood Day.

The line’s Alaska history dates to 1947, and the company is approaching 80 years in the market in 2027.

“We are thrilled to bring together American heritage brands to celebrate the shared spirit of ingenuity, honored traditions, and craftsmanship,” said Kacy Cole, Holland America Line’s chief marketing officer.

Alaska design planned for 2026 sailings

The throw was designed only for Holland America Line and will be sold on board the company’s Alaska ships during the 2026 season. Holland America did not disclose a price or the size of the numbered production run.

The blanket design uses Alaska imagery including mountains, forests, open skies, the Northern Lights and wildlife such as a moose, whale and eagle. Its color palette includes deep ocean blue and Holland America Line orange, with gray, yellow, brown and neutral accents.

Pendleton, an Oregon company incorporated in 1909, makes wool blankets, fabrics and apparel, and operates mills in Pendleton, Oregon, and Washougal, Washington.

“Our partnership with Holland America Line is a natural fit — rooted in our shared connection to Alaska and a long-standing commitment to honoring place, history and craft,” said Bob Christnacht, executive vice president of sales and marketing at Pendleton.

Nearly 80 years in Alaska

Holland America’s Alaska roots began with Chuck West’s Arctic Alaska Tours in Fairbanks in 1947, before the line acquired Westours in 1971. The company’s first dedicated Alaska cruise followed in 1975, when Prinsendam sailed an Inside Passage itinerary.

The overland side remains part of Holland America’s Alaska business. The company owns multiple hotels and two railroads in Alaska, and it says it remains the only cruise line offering a Cruisetour that combines Denali National Park with Canada’s Yukon.

America 250 program extends beyond Pendleton

The Pendleton blanket is part of a broader Holland America program tied to the July 4, 2026 anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence. The line has also partnered with Crane Stationery on a 12-card collection designed by U.S. Veterans Artists Alliance artists Lindsay “Bones” Cordero, Amy R. Roberts and Jen LaVita, with onboard sales scheduled to begin at the end of April 2026.

Holland America’s anniversary programming also includes a 28-day Pan Am 100th Anniversary Legendary Voyage in 2027, planned for 18 ports along the Pan Am Great Circle Route in the Caribbean. For July 4, 2026, the line scheduled an “America’s 250th Celebration: Stars and Stripes” cruise from Boston, with a late departure for skyline fireworks, a deck party, music programming, a Norfolk call and an overnight in New York.

Holland America said additional limited-edition co-branded products and brand partnerships will be announced before the July 4 anniversary. The company did not name the next partner.
