Discovery Princess Makes Maiden Singapore Call on First Asia Visit
Discovery Princess’s arrival underscores how major lines are treating Singapore as a swing hub between Alaska and Australia, adding fresh capacity as Asia-Pacific cruising rebounds.
Discovery Princess made its first call in Asia on October 28, 2025, docking at Singapore’s Marina Bay Cruise Centre as it completed a long repositioning voyage from North America.
The Royal-class Princess Cruises ship arrived after a 29-night itinerary between Seattle and Singapore that followed its summer season in Alaska. The sailing marked the vessel’s first deployment in the region since it entered service in March 2022.
A 29-night repositioning from Seattle to Singapore
Princess Cruises positioned Discovery Princess to Asia after the ship’s Alaska program, with the repositioning itinerary beginning in late September and including four calls in Alaska before crossing the Pacific.
On the Asia portion of the voyage, the itinerary included calls in Japan at Shimizu, Kochi and Kagoshima, as well as Keelung in Taiwan. The ship also visited Hong Kong and called at Nha Trang, Vietnam, before arriving in Singapore.
Maiden Singapore call marked by port ceremony and travel trade events
Princess Cruises marked the October 28 call with a plaque exchange ceremony at Marina Bay Cruise Centre attended by Discovery Princess Captain Tony Ruggero and representatives from Marina Bay Cruise Centre, the Singapore Tourism Board and Wallem Shipping.
The port visit also included outreach to the travel trade. Princess Cruises said more than 50 travel advisors from Singapore attended the ceremony, toured the ship and joined a hosted lunch onboard.
Short Southeast Asia program features a five-night Malaysia itinerary
After arriving in Singapore, Discovery Princess operated a five-night cruise sailing roundtrip from Marina Bay Cruise Centre with calls at Port Klang, Penang and Langkawi.
Princess Cruises said it planned to continue inaugural-visit traditions during the ship’s first calls at Port Klang and Penang, including additional plaque exchange ceremonies and hosting travel agents.
