Celebrity Solstice Returns After Singapore Refit Adds 54 Cabins
Celebrity’s overhaul shows how cruise lines are turning midlife ships into floating resorts, adding premium dining and outdoor spaces to stay competitive without new builds.
Celebrity Cruises returned Celebrity Solstice to service on March 2, 2026, after completing an extensive refurbishment in Singapore tied to the line’s previously announced $250 million program to modernize its Solstice-class ships.
The 2008-built, 121,878-gross-ton vessel resumed guest operations with a 12-night sailing from Singapore to Hong Kong. Celebrity Cruises President Laura Hodges Bethge said the work was designed to both refresh and reposition the ship within the class: “Celebrity Solstice launched our Solstice Series ships and defined a generation of Celebrity Cruises travel. This reimagination honors that heritage while setting a new standard for what an elevated vacation can be.”
What changed onboard after the Singapore refit
The ship’s bow-to-stern project introduced eight new onboard experiences and added four spaces described as new to the brand, alongside updates across public areas and accommodations. Celebrity also increased capacity by adding 54 staterooms, bringing the ship’s total to 1,479 cabins.
Top-deck additions, including Sunset Park
One of the most visible changes is Sunset Park, a new open-air venue on the top deck built around daytime activities and evening gatherings. Programming includes yoga sessions, lawn games, and live music, while private cabanas are offered with dedicated attendants.
Food-and-beverage updates adjacent to Sunset Park include the new Sunset Park Café, offering bistro-style breakfast and lunch. Menu items cited by the line include sandwiches, quiches, pastries, salads, and wraps, plus charcuterie boards served throughout the day. Nearby, the Sunset Bar was expanded.
New dining and lounge concepts added to the lineup
Celebrity introduced Trattoria Rossa, an Italian concept focused on Roman and Southern Italian cuisine, featuring house-made pastas as well as seafood and meat entrées.
The ship also added Fine Cut Steakhouse, a venue previously featured on Celebrity’s Edge Series ships. Celebrity said the steak-and-seafood menu includes 30-day dry-aged steaks.
For entertainment and social space beyond the main theater, the refurbishment added Boulevard Lounge, a 125-seat venue slated to host piano singalongs, karaoke, and game shows. The adjacent Boulevard Bar was added as a cocktail-focused venue.
Another new venue, The Parlor, is positioned as a sports and gaming lounge with activities including billiards and darts, as well as board games and sports viewing. Celebrity said the venue also offers shareable dishes, along with desserts.
Accommodation expansion and suite-area updates
Celebrity said all existing staterooms received refreshes as part of the project, while 54 new staterooms were added to increase total cabin count to 1,479.
Four new stateroom categories were introduced. They include the Panoramic Infinite Veranda Suite, described as a front-facing suite that blends indoor and outdoor space through a reconfigurable window system. Additional categories include two Panoramic Ocean View Suite options designed to increase living space and emphasize forward-facing views, plus a Deluxe Panoramic Ocean View category positioned as a non-suite option.
AquaClass staterooms were updated with wellness-oriented amenities, including massaging showerheads, aromatherapy diffusers, in-room yoga mats, upgraded robes and slippers, and a pillow menu. AquaClass guests also continue to receive access to Blu and the Persian Garden thermal suite within the ship’s spa.
The Retreat, the ship’s suite-only area, was also redesigned. Celebrity said changes include a reworked sundeck with an oversized hot tub, more shaded seating, and expanded outdoor lounge areas reserved for suite passengers. The Retreat Lounge received updated finishes and furnishings, while Luminae continues as the dedicated dining venue for guests staying in The Retreat.
Entertainment updates, including two new theater productions
Celebrity Solstice’s entertainment lineup now includes two new main-theater productions: Smoke and Ivories, centered on music from the 1950s, and Rockumentary, a concert-style rock show. Beyond the theater, Celebrity added a candlelit string concert series as part of the refreshed programming.
How Celebrity is positioning the project across the Solstice class
Celebrity has described the Solstice refurbishment as the first completed project within a wider multi-year initiative to modernize all five Solstice-class ships, combining new-to-the-fleet venues with redesigned existing areas and updated accommodations under the $250 million investment.
Where Celebrity Solstice is scheduled to sail next
Following its return to service, the ship is scheduled to continue sailing in Asia and Australia before operating in Alaska for the summer 2026 season.
