Carnival Marks Anzac Day With Dawn Services at Sea
As Carnival grows in Australia, the at-sea ceremonies show how cruise lines are adapting shipboard life to reflect national traditions and local expectations.
Carnival Cruise Line marked Anzac Day across three ships in its Australia program on April 25. Guests and crew aboard Carnival Splendor, Carnival Adventure and Carnival Encounter took part in dawn services at sea during voyages from Sydney and Brisbane.
The commemorations covered most of Carnival’s Australia fleet. Carnival Splendor and Carnival Adventure are based in Sydney, while Carnival Encounter sails from Brisbane; Adventure and Encounter joined the local Carnival fleet in 2025, bringing the brand’s Australian deployment to four ships with the seasonally Brisbane-based Carnival Luminosa.
The onboard services followed traditional Anzac Day observances, including a dawn ceremony, the reading of The Ode, a wreath-laying tribute and the sharing of Anzac biscuits. The sailings underway during the remembrance day included itineraries to Tasmania and Vanuatu.
Anzac Day is observed in Australia and New Zealand as a day of remembrance for those who served and died in military operations.
Carnival did not include a named executive statement with the announcement. The line also did not name Carnival Luminosa among the ships where the April 25 commemorations were held.
