Carnival Expands Revised Dinner Menu Trial to Seven Ships
Carnival’s cautious menu rollout shows how cruise dining is becoming a sharper battleground, with passenger feedback shaping changes before they reach the wider fleet.
Carnival Cruise Line has expanded testing of a new dinner menu to seven ships, with an eighth vessel scheduled to join the trial next week. Brand Ambassador John Heald said the line is using guest feedback to adjust the menu before extending it to more of the fleet.
Carnival operates 27 active ships, so the revised dinner menu is still absent from most vessels.
Current ships in the menu trial
The revised dinner menu is now on Carnival Magic, Carnival Liberty, Carnival Panorama, Carnival Jubilee, Mardi Gras, Carnival Sunshine and Carnival Pride, with Pride entering the test this week. Carnival Spirit is scheduled to receive the menu next week.
Heald gave the update during his daily video briefing, saying guests are “massively excited” about the changes and that comments so far have been “absolutely fabulous.”
Carnival has not announced a fleetwide completion date or identified the next ships beyond Carnival Spirit. Heald said he hopes to provide another update next week as the rollout continues.
Guest feedback is shaping the changes
The menu test is unfolding as Heald continues to field passenger comments about Carnival’s dining options, including requests for lighter and healthier choices. In an April 7 Facebook video, Heald responded to a guest who complained that mainstream cruise menus lacked healthy options.
“Listen, you can eat healthy. Absolutely, you can,” Heald said. “You just have to ask.”
Heald pointed to broiled swordfish served aboard Carnival Jubilee as an example from the new menu. He also said passengers looking for lighter options can ask for items such as fish without butter, while the onboard menu still includes casual venues and treats such as Guy’s Burger Joint and soft-serve ice cream.
