Atlas Ocean Voyages Seeks New Florida Headquarters Amid Expansion
Ferreira said he was on site at a recently renovated century-old art deco property in Fort Lauderdale, but Atlas has not named the site or a relocation timetable.
Atlas Ocean Voyages is searching for a new Florida headquarters as the Fort Lauderdale-based brand expands, Mystic Cruises CEO Mario Ferreira said after inspecting a historic property in South Florida. The office search comes as Atlas prepares to add Atlas Adventurer, a 400-guest sailing yacht planned for late 2028 and expected to become the largest vessel in the line’s fleet.
Atlas launched in 2019 and operates three 200-passenger expedition vessels; Atlas Adventurer would carry twice as many guests. The line is headquartered at 1 E Broward Blvd. in Fort Lauderdale, while parent company Mystic Cruises is based in Porto, Portugal.
“We are looking for a new property to move our headquarters, which is undergoing an expansion,” Ferreira said in a social media update. He said he was onsite at a recently renovated 100-year-old art deco property in Fort Lauderdale.
Fleet expansion extends beyond 200-guest ships
Atlas Adventurer was announced earlier this year. China Merchants shipyard will build it. The first Atlas-class sailing yacht is planned at 26,000 gross tons and 690 feet, with Ice Class 1B/Polar Category C notation, all-suite accommodations, 275 crew, hybrid-electric propulsion, a 9-megawatt marine battery and three carbon masts.
Atlas has said the ship will be able to generate energy while sailing and will add larger public areas than its current vessels, including seven dining venues, five bars and a large swimming pool. Its inaugural season is planned for Asia, Africa and the Mediterranean, with new Atlas destinations in Southeast Asia and Eastern Africa ahead of the 2028-29 winter season.
Bookings run ahead of last year
Atlas said year-to-date sales across all future voyages are 49 percent ahead of the same period last year. The company linked part of that increase to Atlas Adventurer’s Early Priority Deposit program, which launched in January, and said past guests received access to reservations in May before a scheduled June 10 public opening.
“What’s been especially encouraging is seeing how the excitement surrounding the Atlas Adventurer has introduced new travelers and travel advisors to Atlas Ocean Voyages,” said Kristian C. Anderson, executive vice president, global sales.
The 16-voyage inaugural program includes new itineraries in Africa and Asia, along with continuing demand for Antarctica, the Arctic and Europe. Atlas also cited its Always Included by Atlas package, covering wines and spirits, gratuities, specialty coffees and teas and other amenities, among the products receiving positive traveler response.
Atlas’ existing vessels are World Voyager, World Navigator and World Traveller. They sail polar itineraries as well as programs in the Mediterranean, Northern Europe, South America and the Caribbean. Starting later this year, the 9,934-gt World Voyager will sail Antarctic winter seasons for Quark Expeditions on a seasonal charter while continuing to operate Atlas summer programs.
For the headquarters project, Atlas has not announced the specific property, the structure of any real estate transaction or a relocation timetable.
