Adora Cruises Takes Crew on Shanghai Culture Tour

Crew departed Shanghai Wusongkou International Cruise Terminal for Yu Garden, Nanjing Road and the Bund; Adora identified a North Bund flash mob as the central activity.

Adora Cruises launched its “Ahoy Shanghai, Nong Hao Shanghai” city experience in Shanghai on June 8, taking nearly 100 international crew members from Adora Magic City on a shore-side familiarization program around the ship’s homeport. The group departed Shanghai Wusongkou International Cruise Terminal for visits to Yu Garden in the City God Temple area, Nanjing Road Pedestrian Street and the Bund, with a flash mob at the North Bund waterfront identified by the line as the event’s central activity.

The program focused on the city from which Adora Magic City has operated primarily since entering revenue service on Jan. 1, 2024. By May 5, 2026, China’s first domestically built large cruise ship had completed 200 voyages and carried more than 700,000 passengers; the 136,201-GT vessel has capacity for 5,246 guests and about 1,292 crew.

“International crew members are an essential part of the cruise experience,” Adora Cruises said. “Through this city immersion program, we hope to help our crew gain a deeper understanding of their homeport city and Chinese culture.”

The company said the event was also intended to strengthen team connections and a sense of belonging among crew. The announcement included no executive comment.

No-port sailings and South China deployment follow

The crew program followed Adora Magic City’s first roundtrip Shanghai sailing without port calls, a three-day, two-night weekend cruise built around onboard entertainment and experiences. The ship departed Shanghai on a Saturday and returned without an intermediate call, a format Adora said gave Chinese consumers a weekend option without taking leave.

Adora Magic City’s regular Shanghai schedule has centered on international cruises to South Korea, consistently featuring Jeju, Busan and Incheon (Seoul), with voyages ranging from three-night getaways to six-night journeys. A seven-day, six-night Shanghai sailing scheduled for Oct. 1, 2026, is due to call at Jeju, Busan and Yeosu.

The ship is also scheduled for South China homeport operations from Shekou Cruise Home Port in Shenzhen from Aug. 13 to Sept. 16, 2026, with standard five-day, four-night and six-day, five-night international voyages to destinations in Vietnam, including Hue, Ha Long Bay and Nha Trang, as well as Jeju. A nine-day, eight-night Maritime Silk Road Discovery Voyage is planned for Aug. 27 with calls at Kota Kinabalu, Muara and Nha Trang.

Adora has scheduled three more no-port cruises from Shanghai Wusongkou International Cruise Port for Dec. 11, 18 and 25, 2026. Sales for those departures opened June 9 through the line’s website, WeChat mini-program and customer service center.
