Silversea Opens Sales for 2029 Pacific World Cruise
Silversea is betting that luxury travelers want slower, deeper Pacific exploration, pushing world cruises beyond marquee capitals toward rarer ports and curated cultural access.
Silversea has opened general sales for its 2029 World Cruise, a 125-day sailing aboard Silver Whisper that departs San Diego on Jan. 5, 2029. The voyage, titled "A Pacific Awakening," is scheduled to visit more than 60 destinations in 19 countries before ending in Singapore on May 11, 2029.
The itinerary is built around the Pacific, with calls across Polynesia, Micronesia, Melanesia, Australia, Asia and New Zealand. Silversea said the program includes 17 overnight stays, six signature events and one included overland experience.
Bert Hernandez, president of Silversea, said the cruise was designed around "the depth and variety of experiences" across the region. Guests will visit both well-known destinations and "smaller, rarely visited ports," he said, citing a private event at Iolani Palace in Honolulu and an island celebration in the Philippines.
The eight-part itinerary crosses the Pacific and Asia
The cruise begins with a San Diego-to-Papeete segment that follows a bon voyage event and focuses on volcanic island chains and reef destinations. From Tahiti, Silver Whisper continues toward Auckland through French Polynesia, Samoa and Fiji, with extended stays intended to give guests more time ashore.
The Auckland-to-Melbourne portion includes New Zealand fjords, coastal communities and larger city calls before the ship moves through Australia. The next leg, from Melbourne to Benoa, takes in wine regions such as Barossa Valley, coastlines and marine-life experiences.
From Bali, the ship sails to Manila with calls in Indonesia, Malaysia, Brunei and the Philippines. Silversea said the segment includes visits to Malaysian forest areas where guests may see orangutans and proboscis monkeys.
The Manila-to-Tokyo section is timed for Japan's cherry blossom season and includes S.A.L.T. culinary programming focused on fermentation. S.A.L.T., short for Sea And Land Taste, is Silversea's destination-led culinary program, pairing onboard meals with shore-based experiences tied to regional food and drink.
Silver Whisper then sails from Tokyo to Hong Kong, with calls in Japan, Korea and China. Select land programs include an after-hours Terracotta Warriors visit in Xi'an, while an optional Beijing program covers UNESCO sites including the Great Wall and Forbidden City.
The final segment runs from Hong Kong to Singapore. Calls focus on temples and regional cuisine, and Silversea said a Thailand culinary experience will center on plant-based cooking.
Signature events include Honolulu, Tasmania and Pattaya
Planned signature events include a private evening at Honolulu's Iolani Palace, a Tasmania Symphony Orchestra performance at Theatre Royal and a private island experience on Kalanggaman Island in the Philippines. Other events include a Tokyo evening inspired by Japanese imperial heritage and a seaside dinner at the Sanctuary of Truth in Pattaya. Silversea did not disclose fare information.
Silver Whisper was built in 2001 and refurbished in 2024. The ship carries roughly 392 guests and about 302 crew members under Silversea's current specifications, with 194 outside suites, most with private balconies.
Sales opened first to Venetian Society members on April 14 before being made available more broadly on April 21.
